Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Math Town at 100% against Question Sleuth's 67%. Math Town also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 29 months) and ratings volume (12 vs 2). Question Sleuth's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Question Sleuth costs $1.99 and Math Town $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Question Sleuth holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Math Town has 12 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Question Sleuth's written reviews are positive against 100% of Math Town's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Question Sleuth ships an update every 29 months, Math Town every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
