Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is monetization model: Video + at free against VideoPlayer+ MP4 video player's free with in-app purchases. Video + also leads on ratings volume (12K vs 11) and review sentiment (79% vs 67%). VideoPlayer+ MP4 video player's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video + sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and VideoPlayer+ MP4 video player sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

VideoPlayer+ MP4 video player holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Video + has 12K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Video +'s written reviews are positive against 67% of VideoPlayer+ MP4 video player's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Video + ships an update fortnightly, VideoPlayer+ MP4 video player every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
