Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: dewenwils at 4.7 against pctapp's 2.2. dewenwils also leads on update cadence (every 10 months vs every 61 months) and ratings volume (225 vs 9). pctapp's advantage is review sentiment (60% vs 32%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
dewenwils holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: dewenwils has 225 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of pctapp's written reviews are positive against 32% of dewenwils's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
pctapp ships an update every 61 months, dewenwils every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
