Conversation Paceboard is a modern pacing board with visual cues. It helps individuals with unclear articulation and a fast speaking rate to pace their speech and improve their intelligibility in conversation. CORE FEATURES - A modern pacing board made of 6 interactive circles - Visual cues and feedback; the circles gradually fill with color when pressed at an adjustable speed - Several categories of conversation prompts to get the conversation started - Tactile cues on iPhone for additional feedback HOW IT WORKS The user is instructed to begin answering a conversation question and to hold a circle down each time they say a word or syllable. Each circle gradually fills with color when pressed. When a circle has fully filled with color, the user should move to the next circle and say the next word or syllable. The speed at which each circle fills with color can be adjusted in order to help the user maintain the desired rate of speech. If the user moves to the next circle too quickly, "Too Fast!" will be displayed. The Speak Up for Parkinson’s app is a useful tool for Parkinson’s patients to practice their speech. The approach pays special attention to the volume of the patient’s voice, a key factor that helps to address several of the challenges faced with Parkinson’s. Two practice tools are included: 1) Words & Phrases, a series of random statements are presented for the user to speak; and 2) Reading & Conversation, a free-form area allowing longer practice sessions. With both tools a volume meter is provided as well as audio/video feedback. The app also provides helpful Speaking Tips and additional information.
