Can you improve your vision? Vision research says yes! Our brain is capable of many things. If you've ever played an instrument or a sport, you already know that the more you practice or train, the better and stronger you get. Much of this has to do with how your brain coordinates your activity. But beyond these activities, the brain is capable of improving in almost every area. This includes improving the way we see the world around us. When we look at an object, our eyes take all that visual information that we see and pass it on to the brain for processing. This information passes into the visual cortex of the brain where we interpret what we see. It turns out that the brain processes this visual information through distinct patterns. These patterns can be closely approximated by something called gabor patches. Challenging your brain by looking at these patterns can strengthen the way we process vision. It's like practice for your eyes. Galaxy Vision is a fun vision training app utilizing these gabor patches. Instructions are pretty simple. Identify the correct orientation of the image. As you successfully select the correct image, the difficulty will increase significantly. This won't be easy; this is meant to be challenging. The best way to use Galaxy Vision is to use it regularly. The more work you put in, the more work you can get out. Take your vision to the next galaxy! Note: This app is not intended to be used for the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. This app is solely designed to challenge your brain’s visual processing.
EYEON
Read full descriptionHide full description
WHO IT IS FOR: EYEON is for people who have had cataract surgery and wonder what to do next. It is also for anyone who wants gentle, structured exercises for their eyes. WHY EYEON EXISTS: The founder, Tomáš, had cataract surgery. He could see, but nobody told him what came next or whether eyes can be trained at all. So he started reading scientific studies. He found research on perceptual learning: the brain can be trained to process what the eye sees better, including contrast, tracking and peripheral vision. He built the app on those studies, first just for himself. Now he shares it with you. WHAT THE STUDIES FOUND: • Polat et al. (2004, PNAS): adults with amblyopia who trained with contrast patterns roughly doubled their contrast sensitivity. • Deveau, Ozer & Seitz (2014, Current Biology): UC Riverside baseball players improved visual acuity by 31% on average after 30 training sessions, some reaching 20/7.5. • Kaymak et al. (2008): in 16 patients with multifocal intraocular lenses, the trained eye improved faster, and the difference lasted 6 months. • OPTIcTRAIN (Piñero et al., 2023): randomized trial, 60 patients with trifocal lenses, 20 sessions of 30 minutes. Contrast sensitivity improved compared with placebo; acuity was unchanged. Participants were adults with amblyopia, athletes and patients with lens implants. The results describe those groups. HOW THE EXERCISES FOLLOW THE STUDIES: The exercises in EYEON stand on the same principles. Contrast Training uses faint patterns and adapts its difficulty to you, as in the contrast studies. Convergence Training draws on the same idea as the CITT trial, where 73% of children aged 9 to 17 with convergence insufficiency were successful or improved with office-based therapy. THREE TRAINING MODES: HEALTHY EYES: A balanced routine of eye-movement, contrast, focus and attention exercises. POST-CATARACT: A structured routine of gentle exercises to practise alongside your regular care. Always follow your surgeon's instructions. FLOATERS: Gentle guided eye movements. EYEON does not remove floaters. New floaters or flashes of light need an eye doctor's attention. 13 EXERCISES: Moving Point, Contrast Training, Saccadic Exercise, Peripheral Reaction, Near-Far Focus, Convergence Training, Pattern Memory, Relaxation, Floater Eye Movement. NEW IN 1.6: Go/No-Go, Hand-Eye Coordination, Color Discrimination, Visual Crowding. SYMPTOM DIARY AND PDF REPORT FOR YOUR EYE DOCTOR: Rate everyday eye symptoms and answer a short yes/no check-in about warning signs. The check-in is informational only and always points you to an eye professional. Turn your diary and training statistics into a PDF and share it only if you choose to, through the system share sheet. KEY FEATURES: • Difficulty adapts to your performance • Eye comfort rating after each session • Private: all data stays on your device • Personal insights on your training, calculated on your device • No account, no tracking, no ads IMPORTANT NOTICE: EYEON is an exercise and self-tracking tool. It is not a medical device, it does not replace an eye exam, and it does not promise any improvement in your vision. The improvements described above belong to study participants. If you see double or feel discomfort, stop exercising. If you have eye pain, new floaters, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision or a sudden change in vision, contact an eye doctor immediately.
