Off-Maps is a personal map for the places you camp and the trips you're planning. YOUR SPOTS Tap anywhere on the map to save a camping spot with a category, notes, amenities, website, and your own photos. Color-coded pins and icons tell dispersed sites, established campgrounds, RV parks, cabins, boat-in sites, and more apart at a glance. Mark spots as visited and star your favorites. BUILT-IN CAMPGROUNDS Every New Hampshire state campground and every White Mountain National Forest campground is preloaded with site counts, amenities, and official links. Turn on the National Parks and State Parks layers for hundreds more places with photos and websites. TRIP PLANNER Create a trip with departure and return dates, then add stops from your spots, the parks, or any place on Apple Maps. Choose where you leave from and where you end up. The app calculates real driving directions between every stop, shows total distance, drive time, tolls, and a per-day breakdown, and can reorder stops for the shortest drive. Enter your MPG to see how much fuel the trip needs, and find gas stations along the way. DEPART One tap sends the whole route, every stop in order, to Apple Maps or Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation. OFFLINE NAVIGATION Save a trip and its route downloads with it, map included. Navigate in OffGrid follows the route with voice turns, distance, and arrival time, all with no signal. Depart hands the same route to Apple or Google Maps when you'd rather use them. OFFLINE MAPS Frame any area and download it at the detail you want. An offline-capable base map drawn from OpenStreetMap shows forests, parks, trails, and water, and takes over automatically when there's no signal. Satellite and topographic views are a tap away. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No cloud. Your spots, trips, and photos live only on your device.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Off at 5.0 against Grey Wall Pass's 3.9. Off also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks). Grey Wall Pass's advantage is ratings volume (7 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Off holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Grey Wall Pass has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Grey Wall Pass ships an update every 3 weeks, Off every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
