Swipe up, down, left or right and every tile on the board slides that way. Tiles with the same value merge into one worth double, and that value goes straight into your score. Line up two or more merges in a single move and it becomes a COMBO: the points for that move are multiplied by the number of merges. ■ Five realms — different size, different goal, separate records - DUSK (4x4, goal 2048) — free - ROYAL (5x5, goal 4096) — free - FOREST (6x6, goal 8192) — 30-day unlock - EMBER (7x7, goal 16384) — 30-day unlock - ECLIPSE (8x8, goal 32768) — 30-day unlock Best score, highest rank, level progress and the saved board are all kept per realm, so you can move between them freely. ■ A wider board is not an easier one There is more empty space, but tiles start appearing two and three at a time sooner, and the goal rank is higher. A board dropping three tiles per move in the endgame asks for completely different decisions than the 4x4 does. ■ ECLIPSE changes the rules themselves The 8x8 board also spawns the odd tiles 3 and 6. Merging is always "same value with same value", so the odd chain (3, 6, 12, 24 ...) and the even chain (2, 4, 8, 16 ...) never meet. You end up running two chains on one board: 64 cells is a lot, but a share of them is always taken by the side you cannot merge right now. ■ Ranks Every time a tile doubles, its rank goes up one step: fifteen of them, from HAMLET at 2 to INFINITY at 32768. Make a tile above that, or reach the theoretical maximum score for a realm, and your record reads CLEAR — there is nothing above it. ■ Levels Each realm has a ladder of target scores. Reach the target and that level ends; the next one starts from zero on a fresh board. The final level's target is the highest score that board can theoretically produce. ■ Quit and pick it up later The board is saved to your device, encrypted, after every move. Close the app and Continue puts you back in the same position. ■ No account needed There is no server behind the game. The app connects only to deliver ads and to process store purchases. Your records live on your device, encrypted. ■ Ads and purchases - Banner ads appear at the top and bottom of the screen - Watch an ad when you are stuck to take back your last move (twice per game) - A full-screen ad appears every three games - "Hide ads for 1 week" stops every ad for 7 days - "Continue and keep your score" is a single use, sold only at the game-over popup - Realm unlocks last 30 days Every product is time-limited or single-use. There are no permanent unlocks. When the period ends or the use is spent, you may buy it again. Because there is no server, entitlements are recorded on your device only, and are lost if you change devices, reinstall, or reset the device.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Melty Bubble at none against Tilereign's 5. Melty Bubble also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Tilereign's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
