Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: Basic Pitch at $1.99 against EG Nodes's $19.99. Basic Pitch also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). EG Nodes's advantage is review sentiment (92% vs 67%) and update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks). On ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Basic Pitch holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EG Nodes has 93 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Basic Pitch's written reviews are positive against 92% of EG Nodes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Basic Pitch ships an update every 5 weeks, EG Nodes weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
