TunaWars is turn-based war from the Bronze Age to the Dark Ages, where the orders you send arrive late, the news you receive is already old, and a chronicler writes your reign as you play. TWO WAYS TO RULE Rule as Autokrator and you name what the realm is to achieve: take this city, hold that one, explore the land beyond the hills, break a rival, bring in more grain. Add a standing concern or two — quiet the restless cities, strengthen the defenses, build the biggest navy — and your adviser gives every order. Each turn it answers you: what it is doing, what is still missing, and why a thing cannot be done. Set limits it must keep, and take the field yourself whenever you choose. Or rule as Epistates and give every order with your own hand. Switch at any time. OR SERVE ANOTHER CROWN Or play as a Satrap, governing a distant province for a realm you do not rule. Its cities, stores and hosts are yours; its share and its aims are your patron's. Pay the share or keep it back. When the recall comes, obey, or rise in revolt and make the province a realm of your own. There is no victory: the game is to endure. THE RULER'S CHART Plan your wars on the Strategic Map: the realm in ink on parchment, every city named, armies as standards sized by their strength. Three hands of ink say how far to trust what you see — firm for what is in sight, hollow and dated for what was reported, a question mark for rumour. Or switch to the board, where every army stands as a painted figure of its troops. COMMAND AT A DISTANCE A march order to a frontier host rides out by courier and takes effect when it arrives — two turns later, three if the roads are poor. Until then that army does what you last told it. News comes back the same way: every report carries the season it was seen, and a distant host silent too long may already be gone. FOUR AGES OF WAR The Classical world, from the Hellenic city-states to the tribes of the north. The Late Bronze Age, with its palaces, chariots and trading posts. The Archaic Era, from the Assyrian Empire to the rise of Persia. And the Dark Ages, an age of castles and steel: seven peoples of men beside elves, dwarves, gnomes and orc hosts, with old feuds between them. RIVALS WHO REMEMBER Seat xenoi at your table: rival rulers with a face, a name and a temperament set on six dials. Each plays as one of ten trained generals, and you may put Apple Intelligence or a language model on your own key in front of it; no key is ever needed. They see only what their own scouts report, and they remember: every xenos carries its record from one war to the next. Ask one about a battle, or about you. THE CHRONICLE OF YOUR REIGN A chronicler writes your reign as you play, as a book. An order of battle for every engagement, drawn phase by phase on the ground it was fought over; a gazetteer of the peoples you met; a replay of every season's marches. Read it from the map, or bind it as a book. A WORLD THAT TRADES Every city prices each good by what grows near it and by the season. Buy and sell at your markets, answer rival courts' offers, or lay an embargo. What you buy rides home by convoy — and an unescorted convoy is a target. FOG AND HEARSAY Beyond your scouts the map is fog, and into it comes hearsay: towns you have never seen, reported by traders and envoys — placed a little off, and now and then a town that is not there. GODS, ENVOYS AND DYNASTIES Make an offering to the gods, warm a foreign power with a gift, sue for a truce or demand tribute. Your house has heirs, marriages and a ruler whose traits shape every battle. WHAT'S INCLUDED • Four ages: Classical, the Late Bronze Age, the Archaic Era and the Dark Ages • Play as a Ruler, or as a Satrap governing a province for another crown • Eleven historical wars, random worlds up to large maps, and a tutorial island • Xenoi: rivals you keep, share, and carry between your own devices • Solo play, Hot Seat, or Game Center • A turn limit of your choosing, or none
