Nod

Lying awake at night, waking at 3 a.m., tired every morning? Nod is a six-week, self-guided sleep program. It is built on techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) – the approach clinical guidelines name as the first choice for persistent sleep problems. Five minutes a day, no account, nothing to wear. Nod is not a sleep tracker and not a library of sounds. Nod measures nothing. Step by step, you learn the habits that give your sleep a steady shape again. A DAY WITH NOD • Morning: a 30-second sleep diary. When were the lights out, when did you get up, how long were you awake? Nod works out your sleep efficiency. With an Apple Watch or any other source in Apple Health, the times are filled in for you. • During the day: one short lesson, three to five minutes. 42 lessons explain why good sleep does not come from trying harder – and what helps instead: a fixed rise time, a sleep window, stimulus control, dealing with a racing mind, relaxation, planning for setbacks. • Evening: a guided wind-down. Day check, park your worries, 4-7-8 breathing or muscle relaxation – then put the phone away. • Night: when you lie awake, Nod guides you calmly through the moment – breathing, a body scan, the cognitive shuffle or the get-up rule. This screen never shows the time, on purpose. WHAT ELSE NOD DOES • A personal sleep window: worked out from your diary and adjusted every week, with a separate plan for days off. Nod only ever suggests shortening it – you decide. • Progress: sleep efficiency, time to fall asleep, time awake and total sleep for 7 days, 4 weeks or a year. • Patterns: if you like, Nod compares your nights with day factors from Apple Health and your day check – steps, workouts, caffeine, alcohol, water, mindful minutes. • A PDF report to take to your doctor. • A Lock Screen card, widgets, Siri shortcuts and an Apple Watch app for the check-in, breathing and night help. • In ten languages. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No servers. No ads. No tracking. Your diary and all health data stay on your iPhone. Apple Health is only read, never written to – and only if you allow it. NOD PREMIUM The sleep diary, the evening routine, the night help and the first week of the program are free. Nod Premium opens weeks 2–6, the personal sleep window, the patterns and the PDF report – as a monthly or yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, or as a one-time purchase with no subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel them at any time in your Apple Account settings. IMPORTANT Nod is a wellness and education app, not a medical device. The method is well studied; Nod itself has not been clinically tested. Nod does not diagnose anything and is no substitute for medical or psychological care. The sleep window is not suitable for everyone; Nod asks about common contraindications and switches it off where they apply. If your sleep problems persist, or if you take medication, talk to your doctor. Verdict
Push Up Counter and Nod are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.

Both are free to download. Push Up Counter sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per year and Nod sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
