Case Viewer is a fast, focused reader for judicial opinions—on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Pull up any case in seconds and read it in clean, well-formatted type, with citations as live links. Optional AI tools can answer questions and outline arguments, always grounded in the text. Built by a law professor who wanted a better way to pull up cases, Case Viewer has grown into a robust application used by practitioners, students, and academics around the country. It's a self-contained browser tailored for finding, reading, and navigating legal content—and the fastest, most rewarding way to read cases. FREE TO DOWNLOAD The app is free to download, and no subscription is required to search for and read cases. An affordable subscription unlocks the more powerful features: AI chat, opinion comparison, and AI-generated tables of contents; navigating between cases; multiple tabs or windows; exporting formatted documents; history and bookmarks; and customized formatting and appearance, including dark mode. A NOTE ON THE DATA The cases presented by Case Viewer come from public sources that may contain errors—most commonly in text-based versions of state cases, which rely on uncorrected OCR. Use your judgment and check the reporter PDFs (generally available within the app) as needed. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

About

Second Circuit Decisions

*This App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or otherwise connected to the Judiciary, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, or any court. It simply provides access to opinions and orders that are public records.* --- The app has four tabs: Decisions, Judges, Favorites, and Settings. The Decisions tab lists all Second Circuit decisions since April 4, 2007, to the present. You can filter by year or a year range; published opinion versus summary order; civil versus criminal; author; the entity from which the appeal originates; and, if the appeal is taken from a district court, the judge below. Clicking on a case brings up a page that lists relevant information. You can also view the slip opinion version of the decision in PDF form. The Judges tab lists the current composition of the court and links to each judge's Wikipedia page. Favoriting a case brings it to the Favorites tab. Finally, Settings allows you to control your Download preferences. If you prefer, you can download all 30-thousand-plus decisions to your phone (approx. 3GB). Doing so will also automatically download new decisions when they are released by the Court. Decisions from 2020-on have AI-generated summaries.
