WoodValvet is a tube emulated saturator with extra features : - has 3 tube stages each with their own “Drive”control. - each stage can be set to a different tube type (ECC82, …). - stage 2 & 3 can be set in series or in parallel to create different harmonics. - stage 1 & 2 are class A circuits, stage 3 is a class AB circuit. - an input band filter allows to add harmonics on the selected band only. - has out-of-band gain control - filter has selectable slope (12 .. 48 dB/oct) - a post tube out lowpass filter allows to reduce the higher harmonics. - a “Constant Level” setting matches the output level with the input level. - has an LFO to modulate the drive and filter settings. - side chain input can modulate the drive settings (increase or duck mode). - has an “Auto Gain Input” mode to automatically bring quiet signals into range. - has a Stereo spread control. - has a brick-wall limiter on output - has a DC blocking output filter - has an output phase switch. - has a visual representation of the generated harmonics. - has oversampling (1 .. 8) - has an extra inter modulation control for extra distortion.
Ringotron
This app offers advanced control over ring modulation effects for sound design and audio processing. Its multi-band design allows precise manipulation of the audio spectrum, with a special soft mode to reduce unwanted intermodulation. It can also function as a resonant filter that smoothly transitions into a ring modulator.
- Parallel ring modulator units
- Stereo separation control
- Ultra-narrow band resonance
- Ribbon controls for frequencies
- Modulation system for band centers
- Tempo syncing for oscillators
- Soft limiter and clipper

Ringotron allows taming the strong transformational effects of traditional ring modulation, opening up a wider range of possibilities in sound design and audio FX. Its multi-band design enables fine control over which parts of the spectrum will be transformed by the effect. A special soft mode is available that borrows concepts from feedback modeling, which can be used to reduce intermodulation effects that are often a limiting factor in the more general applicability of ring modulators. In addition to the layers of control they provide, combination of these core features also allows the plugin to act as a stereo, multi-peak resonant filter that can also smoothly morph into a ring modulator. FEATURES: • 2 parallel ring modulator units (max. modulator frequency: 8 kHz) • Stereo separation can be added to band center, mod. frequency, mod. phase • Ultra-narrow bands can be used to create highly resonant sounds • 4 large ribbon controls for band center and modulator frequencies • Band center frequencies can be modulated by the built-in modulation system • Tempo syncing can be independently configured for each oscillator • Built-in soft limiter and clipper to protect against volume spikes IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The plugin comes with a zero-latency, non-brickwall soft limiter, and as such, its stopping power is limited. Make sure to always leave enough headroom or use an external brickwall limiter for total protection against powerful transients. Alternatively, a built-in soft clipper is also available. PLEASE NOTE: • AUv3-compatible host app is required • Suported sampling rates: 44.1, 48, 96 kHz

Verdict
WoodValvet and Ringotron both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Ringotron's written reviews are positive against 0% of WoodValvet's. Ringotron also leads on price ($12.99 vs $13.99). WoodValvet's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 20 months) and iOS requirement (11.4 vs 14.0). On rating, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
