Robben.App
Read full descriptionHide full description
With the Robben.App, you can easily give a precise report on a sighting of a marine mammal in Schleswig-Holstein. The App enables a quick response, which provides the seal wardens with all the information they need, thus supporting their work in protecting seals and whales on our coasts. Every year, many sick or dead seals and whales are discovered along the coasts of Schleswig-Holstein. These are often reported to the police, the seal wardens and the Friedrichskoog Seal Station. Often it is not easy to tell if a seal really needs help. Only experts, the seal wardens, can make that decision. Because of their training, the seal wardens know exactly how to approach the animals and how they can best be helped. Seal wardens also take care of dead animals. Some of the dead animals are later examined to determine the cause of death. With the Robben.App you can help the seal wardens to ensure the wellbeing of seals and whales on our coast. If you find an animal that you think needs help, you can use the Robben.App to report it immediately to the seal wardens. You can then be sure that they have all the information they need to quickly find and identify the animal. Become an expert on native seals and whales. In the Robben.App you can learn a lot about the seals and whales that have their home on the coasts of Schleswig-Holstein. You can hear a baby seal calling its mother and watch a harbour porpoise mother roaming the Baltic Sea with her baby. You will learn why the seal wardens are such good seal and whale protectors and how they prepare themselves for this task. Numerous information centres on the North Sea coast in the Wadden Sea National Park as well as on Schleswig-Holsteins Baltic Sea coast provide information on nature conservation. They have fascinating exhibitions where you can learn even more about animals which live on the coasts and how their habitat is protected. The Robben.App shows you exactly where your nearest information centre is located and the best way to get there.
Baltic Water

Is the water warm enough today? Baltic Water tells you in a second. Live sea temperature for 124 cities and coastal towns around the Baltic, from Saint Petersburg to Copenhagen. Every number is an average of seven independent sources, so one offline buoy or one cloudy satellite pass never gives you a wrong answer. SEVEN SOURCES, ONE HONEST NUMBER Open-Meteo Marine's ocean model, three satellite analyses (NASA JPL MUR SST, NOAA OISST and NOAA Geo-Polar Blended) and coastal observation networks from Sweden (SMHI), Finland (FMI) and Poland (IMGW-PIB). See exactly which sources are reporting right now, with the station name and distance for every coastal reading. Nothing is hidden behind a single figure. WHERE THE WATER HAS BEEN, AND WHERE IT'S GOING Every city has a 30-day history with a min-max range across sources and a 10-day forecast, so you can plan the swim, not just guess it. FIND YOUR BEACH Up to three popular beaches per city, with real photographs, GPS coordinates, the distance from the city centre and one tap to open in Maps. YOUR FAVORITES Save the places you swim most. A dedicated tab shows their temperature, 7-day trend and forecast side by side, and ranks them warmest to coolest. THE WHOLE COAST, ONE MAP 124 cities across nine countries: Russia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Search by name or just tap the map. MADE FOR iPHONE DUO On the foldable iPhone Duo, Baltic Water uses both screens: the map and city details sit side by side when unfolded, and the interface turns a page like a book as you fold and unfold the device. NINE LANGUAGES English, Russian, German, Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian, Finnish, Swedish and Dutch. Interface, city and beach names are all translated. Switch from any screen with one tap. SMALL DETAILS A water drop falls from the Dynamic Island when the app opens. The home-screen icon can shift between a cold, classic or warm look depending on the Baltic-wide average temperature, and it comes in light, dark and tinted versions for every iOS appearance. No ads. No tracking. No account. Every reading is public data, and every city page shows exactly where it comes from. Enjoying the app? An entirely optional tip jar sits in Settings & About. The app is exactly as complete without it.

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Robben.App at none against Baltic Water's 6. Robben.App also leads on iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.6). Baltic Water's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
