BatLib

The BatLib app plays the different ultrasonic calls of most European bats, transformed into the audible range using the heterodyne mixer method. This is particularly useful for comparing directly with the output of the BATSCANNER device to help determine the species. 1. Enter the frequency that your BATSCANNER displays to filter the species 2. Listen to the typical bat call sequences 3. Compare the sound with what you hear from your BATSCANNER 4. Sounds similar? Read additional information about the bat species, such as acoustic characteristics, size, habitat, photos, etc. Further information about our bat products: www.batscanner.ch

Hear a call. Name the bird. You're climbing Ruapehu, or walking through Abel Tasman, or camped somewhere on the coast... and something calls from the canopy. You stop. What is that? Koekoe trains your ear so you always know. HOW IT WORKS Listen to a real field recording, then pick the right bird from four options. Get it right and the card gets easier. Get it wrong and it comes back sooner. Over time, the 28 species in the app become as familiar as old friends. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Tūī. Bellbird. Kōkako. Kea. Kākāpō. Grey warbler. Morepork. All 28 NZ native birds, including the rarer ones most people couldn't name. Learn to hear the difference between the cascading notes of a tūī and the liquid bells of a korimako.
