Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: SmartScroll at 4.8 against Curiosity Quench's 4.4. Curiosity Quench's advantage is ratings volume (210 vs 6) and review sentiment (50% vs 33%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Curiosity Quench sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per 7 days and SmartScroll sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

SmartScroll holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Curiosity Quench has 210 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Curiosity Quench's written reviews are positive against 33% of SmartScroll's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Curiosity Quench ships an update weekly, SmartScroll every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 15, 2026 respectively.
