Trainlike is a strength training app for people who want every workout to count. Log your sets. After each workout it shows you how it compared to your recent training, what is improving, what to aim for next time, and why. Your next workout opens with the weight and reps already filled in. Most apps either store your workouts or pick them for you. Trainlike shows you whether your training is working. It compares each workout to your last ones, takes your energy and notes into account, and tells you why any number changes. Bring the program you already run, or start with a plan built around your goals and equipment. Coming from Strong or Hevy? Import your workouts and your records come with you. “Getting a grade after every workout is weirdly addictive. I want the good grade.” Mack F. AFTER EVERY WORKOUT • A grade and a score out of 100, based on four things: volume, intensity, progression and effort • Your best sets, any new records, and what to change next time • Accept a suggested target with a tap and it is filled into your next workout • Rate your energy before you start and leave a note. If you slept four hours, the grade takes that into account. • The same breakdown for any single exercise, and a 30 or 90 day review of your whole program BEFORE EVERY SET • Open your routine and today's weight and reps are already filled in • A call on every exercise: +5 LBS, +1 REP, MATCH YOUR BEST or EASING BACK. Tap it to see the sets it is based on. • Miss your reps and the weight comes down a little, not a lot. Take time off and it eases you back in. • Change any number and the app uses yours. WHERE YOU STAND • Strength Score: one number from 0 to 1000, based on your five main movement patterns • Seven kinds of personal record, spotted as they happen, with the set that earned each one • Rep max tables and charts for estimated 1RM, volume, reps and more • Which muscles have recovered, a year of workouts on one heatmap, and week streaks • Progress photos and body measurements. Photos never leave your phone. IN THE GYM • Fast logging, a rest timer that starts on its own, supersets, warm-up, AMRAP and drop sets • Weighted, bodyweight, assisted, timed and distance exercises • Plate calculator and warm-up calculator, set to the plates and bars you own APPLE WATCH • Log whole workouts from your wrist, with your targets on the watch • Rest timer on the watch, with a watch face complication YOUR PROGRAM • Build your own routines with rep ranges, pyramids, supersets and per-exercise rest timers • Browse ready-made routines and programs, from beginner plans to powerlifting • Take a photo of any written workout and turn it into a routine • New to lifting? Answer a few questions and get a starter plan • 690+ exercises with video demos and instructions, plus unlimited custom exercises • First time on a lift? Get a starting weight, a rep target, and what to watch for THE DETAILS LIFTERS NOTICE • Pick your 1RM formula: Epley, Brzycki, Wathen and four more • Decide whether warm-ups count toward volume and records • If you keep landing outside your rep range, it suggests a new one YOUR DATA IS YOURS • Import from Strong or Hevy. Export everything to CSV any time. • Synced through iCloud. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers. Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Trainlike at 5.0 against Dips Personal Trainer's 4.5. Trainlike also leads on ads (none vs shown). Dips Personal Trainer's advantage is ratings volume (8 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
