Candle helps blind and visually impaired people find their way. The app is built for VoiceOver from the ground up: large buttons, clear announcements and vibration instead of looking at a map. COMPASS β€’ Direction by vibration: Candle vibrates when you point your iPhone north or in one of the eight compass directions, and announces it. β€’ Compass to a destination: hold the iPhone in front of you – Candle tells you the direction and distance to your destination. PLACES NEARBY β€’ Explore: cafΓ©s, restaurants, pharmacies, ATMs, bus stops, taxi stands, hospitals, public toilets, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights with sound signals – sorted by distance while you walk. β€’ Radar: point your iPhone in a direction and hear which places are there. β€’ Wikipedia: articles about sights around you. YOUR PLACES AND ROUTES β€’ Save favourite places – from your current position or by address search, also by voice. β€’ Walking navigation to saved places, with announcements you choose: detailed or short. β€’ Location notes: leave a hint at a spot, e.g. "stairs after the door" – when you pass it with Candle open, your iPhone vibrates and Candle tells you the hint. Add a new one quickly with a long press on the Candle icon. β€’ Share places as a link and receive them from family and friends. PRIVACY No sign-up, no ads, no tracking. Your places and location notes stay on your device. For maps, places and routes Candle uses open services such as OpenStreetMap. OPEN SOURCE Candle is free and open source: github.com/freegroup/candle Found a bug or have an idea? We welcome feedback – especially from blind and visually impaired users.

About

Blind Radar

Features

Blind Radar turns your iPhone into a sixth sense. Point it where you're walking, and it warns you about walls, furniture, people, and trip hazards before you reach them, exactly like a car parking sensor: gentle ticks and haptic taps that speed up as you get closer, and a clear alarm when something is right in front of you. Three big buttons. That's the whole app. WALKING Your path, guarded. Blind Radar watches a narrow beam straight ahead of your iPhone, like a flashlight, and speaks the parking-sensor language every driver already knows. Slow ticks far away, rapid ticks up close, a continuous alarm at arm's length. Every tick comes with a matching haptic tap, so it works with the sound off, in your pocket-height grip, in a loud street. DESCRIBE Tap once and hear what's in front of you in plain, everyday words, "There's a door ahead with a kitchen inside, a table in the middle." Keep it on, point somewhere new, and it describes again. No jargon, no opinions, just what's there and where it is. READ TEXT Point at any sign, letter, menu, or label and Blind Radar reads it aloud, automatically detecting the language and speaking it with the right voice. Hands-free: it keeps reading new text as you pan, and never repeats itself. BUILT FOR REAL LIFE Swipe anywhere to switch modes, every mode announces itself aloud True 3D sound with AirPods: alerts come from the obstacle's direction Works on every modern iPhone; LiDAR models get extended range Fully compatible with VoiceOver Feel it before you buy it: the interactive demo plays every alert level during setup COMPLETELY PRIVATE Everything happens on your iPhone. No video is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. No account. No internet required, Blind Radar works in a basement, on a trail, or on a plane. Your world, sensed.
