Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ratings volume: GymBook ・ Strength Training at 2.4K against Training Note's 6. Training Note's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.4). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. GymBook ・ Strength Training sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Training Note sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Training Note holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GymBook ・ Strength Training has 2.4K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 95% of GymBook ・ Strength Training's written reviews are positive against 87% of Training Note's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

GymBook ・ Strength Training ships an update weekly, Training Note every 9 days. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
