Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: GymBook ・ Strength Training at 4.8 against My Workout Notebook's 4.0. GymBook ・ Strength Training also leads on ratings volume (2.4K vs 1) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 26.0). My Workout Notebook's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 13) and update cadence (daily vs weekly). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. GymBook ・ Strength Training sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. My Workout Notebook asks for nothing beyond the download.
GymBook ・ Strength Training holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GymBook ・ Strength Training has 2.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 95% of GymBook ・ Strength Training's written reviews are positive against 100% of My Workout Notebook's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
GymBook ・ Strength Training ships an update weekly, My Workout Notebook daily. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
