Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: VPN at 4.5 against HitProxy's 2.9. VPN also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 426). HitProxy's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. HitProxy asks for nothing beyond the download.
VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 426 and 1.8K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of HitProxy's written reviews are positive against 40% of VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
HitProxy ships an update every 6 weeks, VPN fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 8, 2026 respectively.
