Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Backdrop at 100% against Lagguy Wallpaper Background's 52%. Backdrop also leads on ratings volume (5 vs 1). Lagguy Wallpaper Background's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Lagguy Wallpaper Background sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Backdrop sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Lagguy Wallpaper Background holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backdrop has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Lagguy Wallpaper Background's written reviews are positive against 100% of Backdrop's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Lagguy Wallpaper Background ships an update weekly, Backdrop every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
