CornholeKings

It's the summer of 1988, and Jack Milky has one shot at greatness: a bean bag, a backyard, and a cornhole board that's about to change his life. This is my semi-true story of growing up in Meriden, CT. CORNHOLE KINGS (1988) is a retro pixel-art adventure about courage, crushes, and cornhole. Pull back, aim, and flick your way through an eleven-chapter story packed with duels, dreams, bullies, bees, and one very important phone number written on a sweaty palm. PLAY IT LIKE A RETRO CONSOLE On iPad, the game plays on a chunky old-school TV set, with a controller right below it. Want the full living-room experience? Use your iPhone as the controller. Pair it with your iPad, and your phone becomes the gamepad while the iPad becomes the TV. Slide the game up to full screen and settle in on the couch like it's 1988. (On iPhone, the game fills the screen with touch controls.) PLAY ON YOUR MAC On Mac, the same TV set sits in a resizable window, with a key legend under the screen for every scene's controls. Move with the arrow keys or WASD and flick a finger on the trackpad to throw (or click and drag). Buy the full story once and it unlocks on iPhone, iPad and Mac. A FULL STORY, ELEVEN CHAPTERS LONG Chase the school bus, sneak through the cafeteria with gum stuck in your hair, and slide through the soapy halls in a mop bucket. Win Dad's tree-house showdown, survive the carnival, wander the haunted forest, and make it home for the phone call of your life. Every chapter has its own mini-games, so no two levels play alike. EASY TO LEARN, HARD TO PUT DOWN Pull back, aim, and flick. It takes ten seconds to learn the throw, and the matches keep surprising you: • Tim's backyard match, the one that started it all • Dad's wobbly tree house, where branches and robins mess with your lobs • Mom's Summer Christmas, with a slippery board and falling snow • Kim's bank-shot ultimatum, then reverse cornhole against her puppy Bubbles, who eats bags • A stormy duel against Billy Badger, with lightning and exploding bombs • A showdown with the Fairy Queen, whose wand is (obviously) a car antenna MORE THAN CORNHOLE Between duels, Jack's world is full of action mini-games: • Side-scrolling sidewalk dashes and boulder chases • Isometric BMX street racing • A mop-bucket hallway race • Carnival games: beanbag baseball, bicycle jousting, the piranha pond, and horse racing • Dream worlds: a jungle temple, a warped Wonderland, and a space-board shooter SPECIAL BAGS, SPECIAL POWERS Earn Sinker, Gasoline, Fairy Silk, Honey, Bubble Gum and Mind Bags, each with its own trick. Drag a bag into the hole with your thoughts, or burn your rival's bags to a crisp. QUICK PLAY AND 2-PLAYER MODE Jump into a single match any time. Pass-and-play with a friend on the same device, or take on the characters you've beaten in the story. Pick first to 11 or 21, then choose the setting: sunny backyard, tree house, or storm. Also unlock a medieval tournament and become king of the Cornhole! A LOVE LETTER TO THE '80S • Classic pixel art, with a big character intro card for every major face • A chiptune soundtrack and sound effects in true 8-bit style • Funny, warm, 1988-suburban-kid humor: rotary phones, Saturday-morning energy, and a little brother who is always up to something • Haptic feedback on every big moment (iPhone and iPad) BUILT FOR PLAYERS OF ALL SKILL LEVELS • Clear on-screen controls, with a ghost-finger guide the first time you meet each one • Tap "?" any time to replay the how-to-play tips • Rematches get gentler. If you lose, the game helps you win next time. • Your progress saves automatically. Replay any chapter from chapter select. Whether you're a cornhole fan, a retro-gaming nostalgist, or just looking for a charming story game for iPhone, iPad and Mac, Cornhole Kings (1988) is your ticket back to the best summer ever. Pick up a bag. Find your courage. Be a king.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Candybox sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and CornholeKings sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
CornholeKings holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Candybox has 15 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Candybox's written reviews are positive against 0% of CornholeKings's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly daily. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
