Verdict
Go Train Track and Lokal both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 82% of Go Train Track's written reviews are positive against 50% of Lokal's. Go Train Track also leads on ratings volume (30 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Lokal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Go Train Track has 30 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Go Train Track's written reviews are positive against 50% of Lokal's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Go Train Track ships an update every 4 weeks, Lokal every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
