You woke up at 4 AM. The launch is forty-five minutes out. Is today actually worth the drive, or are you about to burn an hour for nothing? YakWise gives you a clear read on the conditions so you can make the call. We pull live wind, gusts, water temp, tides, wave height, mountain-pass status, and air quality from NOAA, Open-Meteo, WSDOT, and AirNow. Then we cross-reference everything against your kayak, your experience level, and the species you're chasing — and lay it out as one clear read: GOOD, FAIR, or POOR. Built for kayak anglers, by a kayak angler who got tired of guessing. WHAT YOU GET • A GOOD / FAIR / POOR read on conditions for any spot, any day in the next seven • Hour-by-hour wind and gust forecasts with the calmest launch windows • Tide and current predictions for saltwater spots • Water temperature and wave height from real NOAA buoys • Mountain-pass conditions when your route crosses one • Air-quality warnings during wildfire season • A garage of 50+ kayak models with hull-type-specific notes • Saved spots with the latest conditions cached HOW IT'S DIFFERENT • No fish-finder mumbo jumbo. One screen, one clear read. • No guessing. We tell you when we don't have enough data. • No tracking. We never use your real-time location — you pick spots. • No ads. No subscription. Free during beta. CURRENTLY IN BETA We're rolling out region by region. More spots and states are landing soon — send requests to support@yakwise.com. IMPORTANT YakWise is a planning aid, not a safety device, and it does not guarantee a safe trip. Conditions on the water change fast, and a GOOD read does not mean the water is safe. You are always responsible for your own go/no-go decision and your safety on the water.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: YakWise at 5.0 against MyWDFW's 1.6. MyWDFW's advantage is ratings volume (274 vs 1) and chart position (#209 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
YakWise holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MyWDFW has 274 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
