Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Doomfields at none against Rover Quest's shown. Doomfields also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (208 vs 1). Rover Quest's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 79%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Doomfields sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Rover Quest sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Doomfields holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Doomfields has 208 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Doomfields's written reviews are positive against 100% of Rover Quest's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Doomfields ships an update every 6 days, Rover Quest every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
