Golf Wind
This app provides accurate wind forecasts at the height your golf ball flies, not just at ground level. It offers two visual modes for reading wind data and includes a tournament mode that adheres to golf rules.
- Wind forecast at ball height
- Arrow view with speed and plays-like distance
- Map view with satellite imagery and wind arrows
- Tournament mode adhering to golf rules
- No accounts, tracking, or ads
- Location-based forecasting

Golf Wind shows you the wind at the height your ball actually flies — not the wind on your face. Every forecast blends the surface reading with the wind higher up, where a well-struck shot spends most of its time. That's usually stronger, and often from a different direction than what you feel standing over the ball. TWO WAYS TO READ IT Arrow view — a single glance shows the wind relative to where you're aiming, with speed and a plays-like distance ladder. Map view — satellite imagery with wind arrows drifting across the hole, so you can see what's happening before you get there. BUILT AROUND THE RULES OF GOLF Wind from a forecast is permitted during a round. Plays-like distances are not. Tournament mode hides them and shows wind only, so the same app works for a casual four-ball and a card-and-pencil round. NO ACCOUNTS, NO TRACKING, NO ADS Golf Wind doesn't ask for your email, doesn't have a login, and doesn't track you between sessions. It reads your location to fetch the forecast and nothing else. Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Golf Wind at 100% against FlagMyGolf's 33%. Golf Wind also leads on price (Free vs $1.99). FlagMyGolf's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 weeks) and chart position (#132 vs unranked). On ads, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
