This is an iOS app that uses AI to create depth from 2D photos and videos taken with an 360 degrees camera, and converts them into SBS 3D images in real-time. It can be enjoyed as a stand-alone application by those who can view stereoscopic images with the naked eye. For those who cannot see stereoscopic images with the naked eye, VR glasses or VR goggles can be used to enjoy 360-degree 3D images. In addition, full-screen display is also possible on an external monitor or smart glasses connected to USB-C. Multi-view stereoscopic display on Looking Glass is also supported. Please note that due to limitations of the AI model used in the application, the application can only be used on iPhone 12Pro (A14) or later Pro models with iOS 17.0 or later. the iPhone12,13,14 no-mark, mini and plus models do not work.

About

MPO Viewer

Features

MPO Viewer opens your stereoscopic 3D photos and video straight from the camera. No conversion, no computer. A dual-lens camera such as the Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W1 or W3 saves each photo as an .mpo file holding both eyes, and MPO Viewer shows that pair in six 3D modes and plays the stereo video those cameras shoot. VIEWING Point it at a folder of .mpo photos or .avi clips, on your device or in iCloud Drive, and browse a searchable grid or table. Open any photo in the mode that suits you: โ€ข Side by Side: the classic pair, for free-viewing or a stereo viewer โ€ข Crossed Eye: the same pair swapped, for cross-eyed viewing โ€ข Cardboard (experimental): the pair bent beforehand so the lenses of a cheap VR viewer straighten it out again, set to your own viewer โ€ข Anaglyph: both eyes merged for coloured glasses (Red/Cyan, Magenta/Green, Amber/Blue or Red/Blue), with eye swapping and ghost reduction โ€ข Wiggle: the two eyes flicker back and forth, on a timer or as you tilt the phone โ€ข Depth (experimental): a depth map built from the pair, warped as you tilt Stereo clips play with sound in Side by Side, Crossed Eye, Cardboard and Anaglyph. Whichever mode you pick, the pair is corrected first: the eyes are brought into line vertically and the nearest thing placed at the screen plane, which is what keeps the depth comfortable. Hide a photo or clip and the Hidden list brings it back, behind Face ID if you want. An info button shows what the camera recorded, down to lens, aperture, shutter and ISO, with a map when there is a location. WATCHING TOGETHER A few red/cyan glasses and a television make a stereo evening for the whole room. Mirror to an Apple TV or AirPlay television, or plug in HDMI: the picture moves to the big screen and the phone becomes the remote. Swipe, run a slideshow, play a clip with sound. Set the depth once per television and every photo is placed for that screen from then on. STEREO CARDS AND READY MADE PAIRS Old stereo cards become MPOs too, from any mount or an archive scan. Convert a photo of a card and the two prints are found by their edges, straightened and registered on each other, with the colour cast of the lamp taken out. Every card then carries three buttons of its own: turn it over, put the light back, or save it without colour. Or photograph one in the app, inside the frame it draws. A converted card can be coloured by a machine learning model on the device. The card itself is never touched. A picture that already holds the pair side by side goes in the same way. The app works out which of the two it has, finds the two panels and writes the MPO. Each row says what it decided; one button overrules it either way, another swaps the eyes, and one more cuts a picture down the middle on your word. FRAMES, SLIDESHOWS AND PLAYLISTS Frame photos and clips with a plain border in a colour of your choosing, or one of six passepartouts, from a stereo card to a cardboard peep box. Caption any photo; the caption takes a colour of its own. Run a slideshow through a folder, or save a selection as a playlist: the library then shows just that list, in your order, from the start or shuffled. SHARE AND EXPORT Side by Side, Crossed Eye and Anaglyph export as PNG or JPEG, Wiggle as an animated GIF or a cross-faded video, Depth as an MP4 tilt-sweep. Cardboard exports the plain pair. A clip exports as MP4 at three sizes, with or without its sound. Exports carry a watermark; MPO Viewer Pro removes it. ACCESSIBILITY Works with VoiceOver, the largest text sizes and Reduce Motion, where Wiggle and Depth follow your tilt instead of moving by themselves. Both work with one eye. PRIVACY Your photos never leave your device. No accounts, no analytics, no data collection. The one thing the app ever fetches is a larger colour model, only when you ask. In English and Dutch, for anyone rediscovering a box of old stereo photos and anyone still shooting 3D.
