Nobrainrot is a focus app blocker for people who open Instagram without deciding to. Pick the apps that eat your day, tap once, and they stay locked until your session ends. People who keep a mode running for two weeks or more get back 2h 13m a day on average (Nobrainrot in-app data). HOW IT WORKS Choose the apps to block: social media, short video, games, anything that pulls you in. Start a session with one tap or put it on a schedule. Open a blocked app and you get a quiet block screen instead of the feed. PICK HOW STRICT YOU WANT IT Easy: stop any time, or take a break of up to 15 minutes and come back. Hardcore: no way out until the timer ends. Not even the emergency unlock can end it. Shift: use the Shift device, a small NFC puck sold separately. Your apps stay blocked until you tap your iPhone on it. Leave it in another room and doomscrolling turns into a walk. The Shift device is optional. The app works on its own. SCHEDULES THAT RUN THEMSELVES Block social media every weekday from 10:30 to 19:30, before bed or during study time. Set it once. STRICT MODE While a block is running you can't change the mode or delete the app. Future you will try. This stops them. STATS AND STREAKS See how much time you shifted today, set a daily goal and keep your streak alive. Share your offline time as a card, not your feed. FREE AND PRO The free plan includes 3 modes and 1 schedule. Nobrainrot Pro lifts those limits and adds the allow list. Nobrainrot Pro is an auto-renewable subscription, billed monthly or yearly to your Apple ID. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel any time in your App Store account settings. Readrrr uses Rapid Serial Visual Presentation to show words one at a time in the same spot, and a natural voice can read each word aloud as it appears. Your eyes don't have to jump across lines, so you don't lose your place and read faster. Seeing and hearing every word at the same time also keeps your mind from drifting. Start at your normal pace and speed up as it gets comfortable. A Readrrr subscription or one-time purchase includes everything below: RSVP READER Every word has one letter marked in red for your eyes to rest on, so you never have to look for where the word starts. You can change the speed at any time. NARRATION Pick a voice and it reads along in sync with every word at any speed. The voice runs on your phone, so it works offline. SHORT READS Non-fiction you can finish in 10 to 20 minutes, on topics like history, health, science and economics. Each one is written to be read in Readrrr and sits in a collection with related reads. New ones come out every week, and you can suggest a topic. READ ANYTHING Import PDFs and EPUBs, send an article from Safari with one tap, paste text, or scan pages from a paper book. APP LOCKING Pick the apps that take up your day. Starting at 4 am they stay locked until you've read your daily word goal. Every day you hit it adds to your streak. If you really need one of them, you can unlock for 10 minutes once a day. HIGHLIGHTS Save any passage while you read. Readrrr sorts your highlights into themes and brings old ones back to you in the app and in a Home Screen widget, so you don't forget what you read. STATS Track your reading speed, words read and streak as they grow. SYNC Your library, reading position and stats stay in sync across your devices. SUBSCRIPTION Readrrr requires a subscription or a one-time purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage them in your App Store account settings. Privacy Policy: https://www.ocule.no/readrrr/privacy Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Nobrainrot at 5.0 against Readrrr's 4.4. Nobrainrot also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18). Readrrr's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (57 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nobrainrot sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and Readrrr sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Nobrainrot holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Readrrr has 57 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Nobrainrot ships an update every 2 months, Readrrr fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
