An iPhone has no infrared or thermal sensor. On LiDAR models the app uses the depth sensor, which works in the dark up to about five metres; on every other device it is computational enhancement of a dim image, and some ambient light is needed. Which iPhones have LiDAR? iPhone 12 Pro and newer Pro models, and iPad Pro. On those you get the depth mode. The low-light filters run on any iPhone or iPad. Does it work in complete darkness? Only in LiDAR depth mode, and only within the sensor's range. A camera filter cannot make light that is not there. Can it record video? Yes, with the night effects applied as you record. This app is a sniper scope-style telescope camera. You can take photos using the same UI (user interface) as the sniper scope familiar from FPS games. You can also fine-tune the zoom by swiping left and right on the screen.
