Weathercaster is a better way to look at the weather - using charts. Chart based forecasts are advantageous when you want to know not just if a weather event will happen on a given day, but when that event will start and stop. Using charts also allows you to know more at from a quick glance (temperature, wind, sun, clouds, rain, snow, and the timing of the weather). Weathercaster is the best way to view weather forecasts. Powered by Apple WeatherKit and designed with elegant minimalism, Weathercaster strips away clutter and shows exactly what you need to know using easy-to-read charts. We think everyone can benefit from seeing weather data in this format, but it’s especially useful to boaters, sailors, hikers, and adventurers who navigate by understanding weather trends. Our charts condense temperature, cloud cover, rain, snow, lightning, and wind speed into a format that is easy to read at a glance. Privacy first. In the US, WeahterKit uses models and data from NOAA and NWS. • View precipitation amounts for the past 12–48 hours, and see expected rainfall from upcoming storms. • View up to 48 hours of past weather history alongside forecasts to spot trends. We believe its always useful to see both forecasts and observations. • Home Screen widget and Apple Watch app are available for quick, glanceable access to forecasts. • Forecasts are available offline - you can download a forecast before your adventure and see it while you're off the grid. • Share forecast charts with friends and export to CSV format to support your professional workflow. • Quickly add any hurricane currently being tracked by the National Hurricane Center (NHC). Open/Shut

Open or shut? During a heatwave, everyone answers this question with instinct, and instinct is wrong. We open the windows when the weather feels nice, while the air outside is hotter than inside. We let in air that feels dry, while it actually carries more water. Open/Shut ends the guessing. ONE GLANCE, ONE ANSWER A full-screen verdict, updated in real time: OPEN or SHUT, with the reason in one sentence. No charts to interpret, no thresholds to configure. PHYSICS THAT IS ACTUALLY RIGHT Relative humidity is misleading: hot afternoon air can show a low percentage while holding more water than your living room. Open/Shut compares absolute humidity, the grams of water per cubic metre, indoors and out. Airing never trades a cool room for a damp one. IT KNOWS YOUR HOME Describe your windows once: "garden side", "bedroom skylight". When the verdict is OPEN, the app crosses the wind direction with your façades and tells you which openings to use for cross-ventilation, in your own words. It also learns your building's thermal inertia and estimates the indoor temperature between your readings. IT PLANS AHEAD An hourly timeline shows the next favorable window over the coming hours, and a notification arrives at the exact moment conditions flip. Open at the right time, not when you happen to think about it. SUMMER AND WINTER In summer, flush out the heat as soon as the evening air turns cooler. In winter, air strategically to fight condensation and mould without throwing your heating out the window. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no backend, no tracking. Your location is only used to fetch your local forecast. Free, with no subscription. Open/Shut. An open-and-shut case.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Open/Shut at none against Weathercaster's 4. Open/Shut also leads on update cadence (daily vs every 2 weeks) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). Weathercaster's advantage is device support (3 vs 1). On price and ads there is nothing between them.
