Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: ProTube at 4.8 against RKN PLAYER's 4.0. ProTube also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). RKN PLAYER's advantage is update cadence (daily vs weekly). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. RKN PLAYER sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and ProTube sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
ProTube holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ProTube has 16K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.
RKN PLAYER ships an update daily, ProTube weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
