Everything CoopLog has always done is included with no bird cap, no history window and no export limit. No account, no email, no sign-in, and it all works in airplane mode in the middle of the coop. ONE TAP, GLOVES ON - A thumb-sized +1 button in the lower third, reachable one-handed - +5, +10 and +12 beside it, and a long press for any other number - Every tap is a timestamped collection; the day's total is their sum - A date strip lands on any past day in two taps - "None today" records a REAL zero, distinct from a day you never logged. CoopLog never divides by days you did not log. - Missed a week? Catch Up fills it in a few taps; missed days never count against your averages. "WHY'D THEY STOP?" When your eggs fall 30% or more, CoopLog opens a report that rules each cause in or out from YOUR OWN records and prints the number it used: the same weeks in prior years, daylight hours against the 14-hour threshold (computed on device from a latitude you type once), flock age, bird-count changes, treatments, feed gaps, logging completeness, and one-tap flags for broody hens, hidden nests and predator scares. THE BREAK-EVEN LEDGER Cost per dozen with the literal formula and your own numbers substituted. Feed is charged by what was eaten, not by what was bought, so a new bag never spikes the figure. Running and all-in figures, always labelled. FEED YOU CAN CORRECT Log weight and cost, watch feed on hand count down by what your birds actually eat, and get a restock warning before the bag runs out. "About half a bag left" is a dated correction, never a silent overwrite. EGGS, CARTONS, SALES AND WHO OWES YOU On hand = collected − sold − eaten − given − discarded, oldest first, and it can never go negative. Pack cartons with the pack date and the oldest lay date for the label. Sales with dozens, price, customer and a paid flag; a per-customer balance and a one-tap reminder. TREATMENTS AND EGG WITHDRAWAL The withdrawal window starts at the FIRST dose, the banner names the first safe date, and eggs in the window are kept out of sales while still counted in production. CHARTS, EXPORT AND BACKUP Day, week and month charts with last year overlaid. CSV per record type plus a daily summary. One-file backup and restore, and automatic daily snapshots in your own iCloud Drive, so a new phone only needs the app and a tap on Restore. WIDGETS AND SIRI A Home Screen and Lock Screen widget with a one-tap Add egg button, and Shortcuts for logging eggs, logging none, today's count and feed purchases. COOPLOG PRO (OPTIONAL) Everything above stays exactly as it is. CoopLog Pro adds new tools for keepers who sell their extra eggs or plan ahead: - Lay Forecast: six weeks ahead from your own history, daylight and flock age, and a plain sentence about when they'll be back after winter. Recomputed every day. - Standing orders and the Week Sheet: who gets eggs this week, whether the hens can cover it, who is short, and a reminder the evening before each delivery. - Receipts, customer statements and carton labels as PDFs, with your farm name and a best-by date. - Stand numbers and the Season Report: profit by month, a suggested price for your margin, and the year's numbers ready at tax time. - Hatch calendar: set a clutch and get every candling day, lockdown and hatch day as a reminder, then add the chicks in one tap. CoopLog Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time purchase; full details, prices and terms are shown in the app before you buy. Keepers who installed CoopLog before 3.0 get Pro automatically until April 2027. HONESTY Every computed number shows the inputs behind it. Estimates are labelled estimates. Withdrawal values are reference values; follow the product label. CoopLog is not veterinary or financial advice. Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Chicken & Egg Tracker at free against CoopLog's freemium. Chicken & Egg Tracker also leads on ratings volume (24 vs 1). CoopLog's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chicken & Egg Tracker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and CoopLog sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
CoopLog holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chicken & Egg Tracker has 24 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Chicken & Egg Tracker ships an update every 3 months, CoopLog every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
