MySkyPics organizes astronomy experiences and makes them easy to share with others. • Add smart telescope photos into a sky object focused photo album. • Add observations without a photo as a Sighting. ASTRO PHOTO GALLERY Start by picking an object in the app and add its photo from your Camera Roll. MySkyPics is designed to hold photos of thousands of sky objects — sun, moon, solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, planets & moons, comets, meteor showers, asteroids, dwarf planets, stars, star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae - including all Messier and Caldwell objects. It even has a special place for photos of objects not included in the app, labeled ‘My Objects’. As a photo is added for a sky object, it is instantly tagged with that object’s tags. Any custom tag(s) you’ve created can also be attached. Expand your record with optional place and notes. Objects added to the album can be quickly found with Search and browsed with a swipe. SIGHTINGS RECORD Sightings makes MySkyPics a reference resource of your astronomy experiences. Because not all astronomy viewing can be recorded in a photograph, Sightings is a special option for recording details of observations without photos. Record the details of a sighting — date, confidence, magnitude, opposition, place, notes, and tags. WEB RESOURCES Most sky objects also link to a Wikipedia article with more information on the object. Many also have links to a NASA ‘Picture of the Day’ article. (Internet access needed to access these links.) One can also add Wikipedia and NASA links for sky objects that are added to the app.
Suncam

Suncam tells you where the light will be, before you get there. Drop a pin on the map. Suncam draws the exact bearing of sunrise and sunset, the moon's path, and lays out the day: dawn, golden hour, blue hour, dusk. Drag the timeline with your thumb and the sun line sweeps across the map in real time, and you watch the light move over the landscape, hour by hour. THE TERRAIN THAT STEALS YOUR LIGHT A 9:30 PM sunset means nothing if a ridge puts you in shadow at 7. Suncam reads the elevation all around your spot within 20 km and works out when the sun actually disappears. In a valley the gap runs into hours, and no ephemeris table will show it to you. THE SUN'S PATH IN YOUR VIEWFINDER Raise your iPhone: the day's arc overlays the real landscape, coloured by moment of light. You see where the sun will land behind those trees, when it will strike that wall. One tap while aiming at the sun calibrates the compass, and the drawn disc lines up with the real one. THE SUN ON YOUR AXIS Aim at a lighthouse, a summit, a rock arch: Suncam finds the days of the year when the sun rises or sets exactly on that line from your spot. If it never does, it tells you so. THE FULL MOON, RIGHT ON TIME The lunar calendar shows each day's phase and the moonrise time at your spot. Suncam also finds the rare evenings when a nearly full moon rises on the horizon during golden hour: the one moment when moon and landscape expose in the same shot. And the timeline follows you to the end of the night. YOUR SPOTS, ORGANISED Search a harbour, a summit, a beach. One star keeps it, one folder files it. Every spot stays visible on the map, at any zoom. ACCURACY YOU CAN CHECK Sun and moon positions are computed on the device, from the algorithms of Jean Meeus and NOAA. The times were compared against US Naval Observatory ephemerides from the tropics to the Arctic Circle: the difference is measured in seconds. Because everything is computed locally, the app works with no connection. Only the terrain analysis needs one. WHAT YOU PAY 7 days to try everything, then a single purchase. No subscription, no renewal, no account to create. Your spots stay on your iPhone. Built for photographers, Suncam also serves hikers, climbers, gardeners, and anyone who needs to know where the sun will fall.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MySkyPics at none against Suncam's 1. Suncam's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
