About

Suncam tells you where the light will be, before you get there. Drop a pin on the map. Suncam draws the exact bearing of sunrise and sunset, the moon's path, and lays out the day: dawn, golden hour, blue hour, dusk. Drag the timeline with your thumb and the sun line sweeps across the map in real time — you watch the light move over the landscape, hour by hour. THE TERRAIN THAT STEALS YOUR LIGHT A 9:30 PM sunset means nothing if a ridge puts you in shadow at 7. Suncam reads the elevation all around your spot within 20 km and works out when the sun actually disappears. In a valley the gap runs into hours — and no ephemeris table will show it to you. THE SUN'S PATH IN YOUR VIEWFINDER Raise your iPhone: the day's arc overlays the real landscape, coloured by moment of light. You see where the sun will land behind those trees, when it will strike that wall. One tap while aiming at the sun calibrates the compass, and the drawn disc lines up with the real one. YOUR SPOTS, ORGANISED Search a harbour, a summit, a beach. One star keeps it, one folder files it. Every spot stays visible on the map, at any zoom. ACCURACY YOU CAN CHECK Sun and moon positions are computed on the device, from the algorithms of Jean Meeus and NOAA. The times were compared against US Naval Observatory ephemerides from the tropics to the Arctic Circle: the difference is measured in seconds. Because everything is computed locally, the app works with no connection — only the terrain analysis needs one. WHAT YOU PAY 7 days to try everything, then a single purchase. No subscription, no renewal, no account to create. Your spots stay on your iPhone. Built for photographers, Suncam also serves hikers, climbers, gardeners, and anyone who needs to know where the sun will fall.

What's New in Suncam

THE SUN ON THE AXIS OF YOUR CHOOSING Aim at a street, a monument, a vista: Suncam tells you on which dates the sun will rise or set right along it. And when the axis is never reached from where you stand, it tells you between which bearings the sun actually sweeps the horizon. The answer is a window of dates rather than a single day: near the solstices the alignment holds for several days running. TRUER TERRAIN The terrain analysis measured nothing between you and 800 metres. A nearby rise — which blocks the sun far longer than a distant peak — went unnoticed. The near field is now sampled. CLEARER • The place name appears on the map, in place of the coordinates • Shadow & light works out the loss against the official day: "9 min less" rather than a subtraction to do in your head • Hour marks stay legible across every band of the timeline • In augmented reality, the fine compass controls stay folded away until you need them FIXES • The paywall could flash on launch for someone who had already purchased, while their entitlement was being checked • Sunrise and sunset labels no longer run off the edge of the viewfinder in augmented reality
