About

HookPoint

Features

Should I go fishing today. Where, and what do I bring. HookPoint is a free fishing companion for the bank, pier and jetty. Choose your home water and see the local day's major and minor fishing windows, the best window still ahead, and a verdict that shows its reasoning. The verdict is arithmetic. The sun and moon are calculated on your phone. When you tap Refresh, named public, keyless services supply the weather and water readings: NOAA forecasts, weather station observations, tide predictions and buoys, and USGS river gauges. Readings carry their station and time. If a signal is missing, HookPoint names it and keeps the fishing windows visible. At a coastal water, follow the day's real tide curve and the next high and low. At a river, see reported gauge height, discharge and temperature when available. A gauge has no forecast, so the line after its last observation is held, not predicted. Weather, tide, gauge and buoy coverage is for the United States and depends on nearby reporting stations. Keep a private catch log with photos, species, length, weight, place and notes. Your log is yours, and it exports to CSV. Browse the bundled species reference and seasonal tackle suggestions without a signal. Fishing rules open your state agency's own regulations, license and stocking pages. HookPoint never restates the rules. Verify with your state agency before you keep anything. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and the Should I go fishing today and Next fishing window actions in Shortcuts, read your last calculation without fetching conditions. Back up with iCloud is optional and off by default. If you choose it, your saved catches, photos, spots, home water and preferences are mirrored to your own private iCloud storage starting the next time HookPoint opens. An optional local fishing reminder is also off by default: choose an hour for one notification when tomorrow looks good at your water, using already cached data. If that data is stale, nothing is scheduled. No account. No ads. No subscription. Every feature is free, and the tip jar unlocks nothing.
