Hear TV dialogue more clearly with PocketHear. Turn your iPhone and headphones into a personal listening companion for watching TV. Bring dialogue closer and adjust the sound to your preferenceβwithout turning up the TV volume for everyone else. Place your iPhone near the TV, connect your headphones, and start listening. PocketHear picks up sound through the active microphone and plays enhanced audio through your headphones. Itβs also useful for everyday conversations and small meetings. Key Features - TV Mode: Audio settings designed to bring out speech and make television dialogue easier to follow. - Personal Volume Control: Adjust the listening level for each ear independently. - Speech Enhancement: Optional Apple Voice Processing helps reduce background noise and echo. Results depend on your headphones and surroundings. - Automatic Gain: Helps balance input levels when Apple Voice Processing is enabled. - Flexible Listening Modes: Choose TV or Meeting mode, or let Auto switch between them based on the sound around you. - Optional Pink Noise: Add a gentle background sound with its own volume control. - On-Device Processing: Audio is processed on your iPhone, without uploading it to the cloud or saving recordings. Using PocketHear with Headphones Works with compatible wired and Bluetooth headphones, including AirPods. For TV listening with AirPods, turn off Apple Voice Processing to use your iPhoneβs microphone with high-quality Bluetooth playback. Turning it on uses the AirPods microphone and call audio, which may change the sound quality. Bluetooth audio may introduce a noticeable delay. Your experience will vary depending on your headphones and setup. PocketHear is a listening assistance app, not a medical device or a replacement for professional hearing care.

Put the phone where the talking is. Listen through your earbuds from where you are sitting. That is the whole idea, and it is why hearUP works when simply turning the volume up does not. Sound fades fast with distance, so a microphone sitting on the coffee table hears the room far better than one at the far end of the sofa. hearUP puts the phone's microphone where the conversation is and sends it straight to your ears. HOW PEOPLE ACTUALLY USE IT Family are talking across the living room and you are in your chair. Put the phone on the table between them, put your earbuds in, and join in. At a restaurant it goes in the middle of the table; in the car, on the dashboard; at a talk, on the desk in front of you. Wired earphones work, and so do AirPods and any Bluetooth earbuds. WHY IT DOES NOT HOWL Amplifier apps usually squeal, because the microphone and the speaker are the same phone an arm's length away. Here the phone is across the room from your ears, so there is nothing to feed back. It also keeps working with the screen locked. BUILT TO PROTECT YOUR HEARING Amplified sound in earbuds can damage hearing, so these are not optional extras: - A limiter is always in the chain and cannot be switched off. A door slamming, a siren, a dropped plate - all clamped rather than amplified into your ears. - No earbuds? hearUP plays through the phone's own speaker and cancels its own echo. If you disconnect mid-session, listening stops by itself. - A phone call or another app taking the audio stops the session rather than leaving it half-running. Start low, raise it only until speech is comfortable, and take breaks. If it feels uncomfortable, it is already too loud. CLEAR VOICE Clear voice lifts nearby speech and trims room rumble. On the television it clears dialogue over music. Outdoors it pulls wind and traffic out from under the voices. WHAT YOU GET FREE - 3 minutes a day of live listening with an adjustable level, from the phone's microphone to your earbuds - Clear voice - The limiter, and the earbud safety checks - never behind a subscription - Keeps running with the screen locked WHAT PRO ADDS - Unlimited listening every day, and more volume - Live captions: what people say, in big letters on your screen - Missed that? Play back the last 15 seconds while the conversation carries on in your ears - Left/right balance for a weaker ear WHAT THIS IS NOT hearUP is a sound amplifier. It is not a hearing aid and not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or correct hearing loss, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you have trouble hearing day to day, or you have ringing, pain, or a sudden change in your hearing, please see a doctor or an audiologist. A hearing aid is fitted to your hearing by a professional; an app amplifying a phone microphone is a different thing, however useful in the moment. Please do not use hearUP while driving, cycling, or anywhere you need to hear traffic normally. PRIVACY Audio is processed live on your device and is never uploaded. Nothing is written to a file - the last 15 seconds used by the replay feature are held in memory only and are gone the moment you stop listening. There is no account and no analytics. SUBSCRIPTION hearUP Pro is $3.99 weekly with a 3-day free trial, or $17.99 yearly. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
