About

Hooch

Features

Hooch is a sourdough starter tracker that answers the one question every keeper asks: when will it peak? Log a feeding and Hooch estimates the peak from your starter's own history - the median of the peaks you've marked - instead of a book number, and reminds you when the dome should be topping out. Feeding time is a calculator, not mental math. Tell Hooch what's in the jar and how much you want to keep, and it lays out flour and water to the gram in your ratio, splits a flour blend like 80/20 wheat and rye, keeps the discard honest, and can work backwards from the total you need for a bake. Grams or ounces, your call. Between feedings, Hooch remembers what you saw. Bubbles, a domed surface, hooch on top, the level against the rubber band - one quick observation records the rise percentage and keeps your starter's story in one place. Pink or orange streaks? Hooch tells you the truth about those too. On bake day, the batch calculator counts the levain into total flour and water - so 500 g flour, 350 g water and 100 g of levain reads 72.7% true hydration, not the 70% most calculators claim - with baker's percentages and salt in grams. The feeding log is honest: edit or delete any entry and every median, estimate and ledger recomputes. A 30-day discard ledger shows what leaves the jar. No account, no photos required, everything stays on your device. Free forever: one starter, the feeding log and calculator, observations, reminders and the published-baseline estimate. Hooch Plus adds the estimate learned from YOUR starter, peak-anchored alerts, more starters and the bake-day batch calculator.
