Magnetometer shows you the magnetic field your phone can already sense. Calibrate a local baseline, then watch how far the field moves away from it — live, in microtesla (µT). How it reads • The big number is deviation from your calibrated baseline in µT, not an absolute field value • An arc gauge moves through four states: Weak, Moderate, Strong and Peak • A rolling waveform shows how the field changed over the last few seconds • Raw X, Y and Z components are listed under the gauge in µT Peaks you can feel • A local peak — a rise followed by a fall — triggers a full-screen flash and haptic feedback • A beep repeats faster and gets louder as the signal gets stronger, so you can watch where the phone is instead of the screen Control the measurement • Calibration establishes your local baseline and rates it: Excellent, Good, Fair or Poor • Four sensitivity levels change how strongly the normalized signal is scaled • High Precision filters noise harder — stronger smoothing, a stricter peak threshold and a longer debounce. Fewer false peaks and a slightly slower response; it does not amplify the signal • Stop a scan yourself and it is saved as a summary: peak count, duration, mode and calibration quality. Up to 100 summaries stay on your device Where people use a magnetometer • Checking whether a screwdriver, scissors or a tool tip has become magnetised • Comparing how strong different fridge magnets, speaker magnets or clasps are • Seeing how the field around a running motor, speaker or appliance changes with distance • Finding out whether a phone case, wallet or stand contains a magnet • Physics homework and classroom demonstrations that need a live µT reading • Simply seeing what the magnetic sensor inside your phone actually reports What makes this magnetometer different Most apps show one absolute number and leave you guessing whether it is high. This one asks you to calibrate where you are standing first, then reports the deviation from that baseline — so the reading answers "how much did the field change here" instead of "what is the field somewhere on Earth". The waveform, the four strength states and the peak flash all describe the same measured signal, and the app is explicit about what it cannot tell you. Getting a clean reading • Calibrate away from metal, magnets and electronics • Move the phone slowly and steadily • Take off cases that contain metal or magnets • Recalibrate when you move to a different room or surface What this app does not do Magnetometer reports what the sensor reads. It cannot tell you what caused a reading, and it does not identify magnetic sources, objects, materials or where they are. It is not a stud finder, a wall scanner or a metal detector, and it makes no claim about anything behind a wall or any other surface. Readings depend on your device's magnetometer and on nearby interference — treat them as a relative guide, not as a professional measuring instrument or a structural inspection tool. Your measurement summaries stay on this device. Requires a device with a built-in magnetometer. Available in 33 languages. Some of the features described require a subscription. BLE-Analyzer is the professional tool to analyze Bluetooth Low Energy devices from your iPhone or iPad. Built for engineers, integrators, installers and radio enthusiasts, it provides a complete technical view of the BLE spectrum around you. REAL-TIME SCANNING Detect any nearby BLE device with continuous telemetry: smoothed RSSI via EMA filter, distance estimated through log-distance model, periodic advertisements and service data. Sort by signal strength, name or last seen. SMART IDENTIFICATION Automatically recognizes AirPods (every generation, including Pro 2 and Max), Apple Watch, HomePod, Apple TV, iBeacons, Google Eddystone, Tile, AirTag and thousands of Bluetooth SIG manufacturers. The parser interprets Manufacturer Data per company: Apple Continuity, Microsoft Swift Pair, Google Fast Pair, Beats, Tuya and more. GATT EXTRACTION For connectable devices, access the full tree of GATT services and characteristics. Read model, firmware, hardware, serial number and battery level. Decode exclusive metadata from the Device Information Service. PROXIMITY RADAR Local alerts by distance threshold and accumulated exposure time. Optional approach sound. Familiar device list with automatic tracking: if a sensor stays with you for several days, BLE-Analyzer learns it and stops alerting you. DIAGNOSTICS CENTER Real metrics from your iPhone BLE adapter: RSSI peak, jitter, signal stability, visible and connectable device counts. Historical activity chart to detect interference or weak spots in your radio environment. EXPORT Export any session to CSV with every technical field: UUID, RSSI, manufacturer, category, services, manufacturer data and timestamp. Compatible with Excel, Numbers and any analysis tool. MODERN INTERFACE Dark glassmorphism design, smooth animations, throttled UI lists so you do not get overwhelmed when hundreds of packets per second arrive. Quick category filters (Familiar, Connectable, Apple, Audio, Wearable, Trackers, Beacons) and instant search by name, UUID or category. OTA SYNC Identification databases (Bluetooth SIG manufacturers, GATT services, HID Appearance codes) are updated directly from our server. Without waiting for a new app release, you always have the latest official assignment. AVAILABLE IN 6 LANGUAGES Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Portuguese. Change the language from Settings without restarting the app. PREMIUM The free version lets you discover devices, see basic data and use the limited proximity radar. Premium unlocks: unlimited device details, unrestricted GATT scans, professional tools (Monitor, Explorer, Decoder, Proximity), CSV export, advanced alerts and unlimited favorites. Three plans: monthly with a 3-day trial, annual and lifetime. PRIVACY All scanning happens locally. Zero collection of personal data. No accounts, no user tracking, no transmission of your BLE environment to servers. The only connection to our server is to refresh the public identification databases, without sending anything from the device. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: BLE Analyzer at 5.0 against Magnetometer・Magnetic Field's 1.0. BLE Analyzer also leads on ads (none vs shown). Magnetometer・Magnetic Field's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.4). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Magnetometer・Magnetic Field sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days and BLE Analyzer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
BLE Analyzer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 2 respectively.
Magnetometer・Magnetic Field ships an update every 3 months, BLE Analyzer every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
