Lore Lineage vs troots

Lore Lineage is a privacy-first family tree app built for people who care about preserving their heritage — without giving up their data. BUILT FOR REAL FAMILIES Create an interactive family tree that handles the way families actually work: blended families, multiple marriages, step-parents, adoptions, and foster relationships. Navigate your tree on an infinite canvas with smooth gestures. STORIES, NOT JUST NAMES Go beyond dates and places. Write life stories using guided prompts, or record voice memos to capture the voices and memories of the people you love. Every person gets a rich profile with a timeline, journal, and media vault. KINSHIP TERMS See kinship terms in Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Spanish, Swedish, Arabic, and Korean. Lore Lineage understands culturally specific relationships — like the distinction between maternal and paternal grandparents in Chinese and Swedish. FULLY OFFLINE & PRIVATE No account. No internet required. No cloud sync. All your family data stays on your device, always. Back up and restore locally whenever you want. ON THIS DAY REMINDERS Get gentle birthday and anniversary notifications so you never forget the dates that matter to your family. FREE TO START Add up to 30 people in your family tree for free. Unlock Lore Lineage Pro with a single one-time purchase (no subscription, no hidden fees) for unlimited people, GEDCOM export, and PDF reports. PROFESSIONAL-GRADE EXPORTS Generate a beautiful PDF family report with a full tree diagram and a generation-by-generation register. Import and export standard GEDCOM files to move your data between genealogy apps (Please note that PDF and GEDCOM exports are only available with Lore Lineage Pro).

Bring your family history to life with Troots — the beautiful, intuitive way to build rich, visual family trees that actually tell stories. Start by adding parents, children, siblings, and spouses, then breathe personality into every branch. Attach cherished photos, birth and death dates, meaningful places, personal notes, and even contact details to turn simple names into living legacies. Your tree stays completely private by default. When you're ready, share it with family, invite loved ones as viewers or editors, and collaborate together in real time. Now, viewers can even suggest edits and additions — so your tree stays accurate and up-to-date without ever losing control. You review every suggestion and approve only what feels right. Access your trees seamlessly across all your devices, work offline with local drafts, and instantly find anyone with smart search and favorites. Whether you're mapping your close family, diving deep into genealogy and ancestry, or creating a precious heirloom to pass down through generations, Troots brings everything together in one elegant, heartfelt place. And when the time comes, export any tree — or your entire collection — as a stunning, beautifully designed PDF, perfect for printing, gifting, or preserving forever.
