Holding a 1927-era plat, a deed description, or an old agency drawing? Those coordinates are NAD27 State Plane, not what your phone reports - and the difference on the ground is tens of metres. This app shows both at once. SPCS83 and UTM on top, NAD27 State Plane in US survey feet and NAD27 UTM right underneath, updating live as you walk. The conversion uses NADCON, the National Geodetic Survey's own grid, so the number matches the drawing rather than approximating it. Try all features completely free for the first month. [ Key Features ] - Real-Time Coordinate Display: Simultaneously shows Latitude/Longitude (WGS84), UTM, and MGRS. - Earth-Centered (ECEF): X, Y and Z, with a settable height h. - Legacy Grids: NAD27 State Plane and NAD27 UTM via NADCON, for checking older plats, deeds and boundary work. - Enter a Coordinate, Go There: Type or paste a grid coordinate and the map jumps to it. - Multiple Points at Once: Paste a list of coordinates, drop them together, and step through them one by one. - Feet or Metres: Switch between metres, US survey feet and international feet. - Distance and Bearing: Range and direction from where you stand to the pin, with live GPS accuracy. - CSV Export: Send saved points out as CSV for your office software. - Street View: Jump from any point straight to Google Street View. - Pin Function: Tap the map to drop a pin and read its coordinates and address. - Favorites Manager: Manage multiple job sites and reference points efficiently. - Address Lookup: Shows the street address of your location or any pin. - Auto-Detect Local Coordinate Systems: Automatically identifies and displays the correct local grid and zone worldwide. - One-Tap Copy: Copy retrieved coordinate data to your clipboard with a single tap. - Share & Report: Capture screenshots containing coordinate data to easily share or save via email and messaging apps. - Transparent Map Overlay: Seamlessly layer satellite imagery with OSM (OpenStreetMap) to read terrain, vegetation, roads, and facilities at once. Ideal for construction, civil engineering, environmental surveys, forestry, mountain rescue, and any scenario demanding precise location data. Compass Triangulation
Read full descriptionHide full description
Find a position on the map from nothing but compass bearings. Compass Triangulation is a resection tool: take two or more magnetic compass bearings from known observation points toward the same distant object, and the app calculates where that object is, with a confidence rating and an uncertainty radius, not just a single guessed point. It's built for search and rescue teams, land surveyors, wildland firefighters, hunters, and anyone who needs to turn "I saw it from here, at this heading" into coordinates. FREE FEATURES • Unlimited bearings. • Add a bearing by typing it in, capturing it live from GPS and the device compass, or importing one shared by QR code or link. • Automatic intersection: with two or more non-parallel bearings, the app computes the averaged intersection point, a confidence rating based on the crossing angle, and an estimated uncertainty radius. • UTM and MGRS coordinates, alongside latitude and longitude. • Nearest-address lookup for the computed point. • QR code and link sharing, including magnetic declination, so the same bearings resolve to the same point on another device. • JSON export and import, full backup and restore to a file you control. • Manual magnetic declination, street and satellite maps. • Shared links open straight in the app. PRO, A ONE-TIME PURCHASE • GPX export: your bearings and computed location for Garmin devices, Gaia GPS, CalTopo, QGIS and other tools. • Saved session library. • PDF field report: the map with all bearing lines and the intersection, a table of every bearing with magnetic and true headings, coordinates in three formats, the confidence rating, the uncertainty radius and the nearest address. • Live magnetic declination from a geomagnetic model, updated as you move. • Civil Air Patrol (CAP) search grid overlay. • Offline maps: draw the area you'll work in and download it before you lose signal, with a size estimate first. • Keep the screen awake while you triangulate. No subscription: you're not paying rent on a tool you may use twice a year in a real emergency and constantly in training. Available in English, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português, Italiano, 日本語, 한국어.

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Compass Triangulation at every 3 days against Geo XY Pointer's weekly. Geo XY Pointer's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
