A pure logic game. No ads, no subscription, no connection. Just grids that yield to reasoning. Tektologic is Suguru — also known as Tectonic. ■ THE RULE The grid is cut into irregular blocks of 1 to 5 cells. A block of N cells holds the digits 1 to N, once each. Two neighbouring cells never carry the same digit — and neighbours include diagonals. That's all. There is no row or column constraint: two 1s can share a row, as long as they don't touch. That is what sets Tektologic apart from sudoku. Every grid has one unique solution, reachable by deduction. Never by guessing. ■ WHAT YOU GET → 350 grids across 7 tiers, from Discovery to Legend → An interactive tutorial that teaches the rule by playing → Hints that explain the deduction instead of handing you the answer → Pencil notes, undo, error detection → 9 themes, 6 fonts including OpenDyslexic and Andika → Stats, streaks and Game Center leaderboards ■ BUILT TO BE READ Six fonts to choose from, two designed for dyslexia. Nine themes in light and dark. A colour-blind mode. Everything adjusts. ■ OFFLINE, FOREVER No connection required. No account. No data collected. The first 100 grids are free; a single purchase unlocks the other 250, for life. iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is monetization model: Chess Peace at free against Tektologic's free with in-app purchases. Chess Peace also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.6) and ratings volume (139 vs 8). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chess Peace sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Tektologic sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
