ToRothorNot helps you evaluate Roth conversion strategies and see how they may affect your retirement savings and draw-downs. Enter your Traditional IRA balance, tax-related inputs, and up to three custom scenarios to compare projected net worth at your chosen target age, end net worth, cumulative costs, and other key planning outcomes. Test Social Security claiming choices and compare scenarios side by side. Interactive charts let you view net worth or differences between strategies, zoom in, and highlight individual strategies. The app also supports married households, including survivor-spouse modeling and separate spouse Social Security timing. Premium unlocks Computed Strategies that automatically test approaches such as No Conversions, Balanced Conversions, Best End Net Worth Found, optimization for net worth at your selected target age, and more. Premium also adds heir-focused comparisons, PDF export of the Summary, CSV export of detailed Results, and dynamic Explore tools for what-if analysis. Explore lets you adjust conversion amounts, Social Security timing, spending, investment growth, annual QCDs, and other planning inputs to see results change. For ACA users, subsidy-aware exploration shows how key income inputs may affect ACA costs and subsidies. Birth month and year inputs refine Social Security, Medicare, and QCD timing, while RMD starting ages follow birth-year rules. Choose standard or custom deductions and adjust the tax inflation assumption, which defaults to 2.5%, to project growth in tax brackets, standard deductions, selected limits, and ACA premiums. ToRothorNot models a broad range of factors, including federal tax brackets, Social Security taxation, the enhanced Senior Deduction, IRMAA surcharges, NIIT, AMT, ACA premiums and subsidies, capital gains taxation, QCDs, and survivor-spouse timing effects. Projections use 2026 federal tax tables and related limits as their starting point. Future indexed amounts are planning estimates, and the app is intended to be updated annually to reflect tax-law and threshold changes. This is an educational planning tool and does not model every IRS worksheet or edge case. It does not guarantee the absolute best strategy, but it can be a practical way to evaluate tradeoffs and prepare for conversations with your advisor.
