Ever tapped Ignore Limit without really thinking about it? Most of us have. Scrollmates turns your screen time limit into something you share with a friend, because doomscrolling is easier to tackle when you're not doing it alone. You and your scrollmate share one pool of minutes each day for the apps that pull you in. When either of you scrolls, the pool goes down. You're on the same team, so every minute you leave in the pool is one your friend can use, and the other way round. PICK YOUR PERSON It could be your best friend, your partner, a sibling or your gym buddy. Together you agree on the size of the pool and when your day resets. You each choose your own apps privately, and one pool covers you both. HOW A DAY GOES Your day starts with a full pool, and your apps open like normal. When the pool runs low, Scrollmates shields the apps you picked, and getting back in means choosing to claim a short session. Once the pool is empty, your apps stay shielded until your new day starts. You can still get in, but it counts as a breach and your scrollmate will know about it. Scrollmates won't pretend to be an unbreakable lock, because no app on your own phone honestly can be. What it gives you is a speed bump and someone in it with you. WHAT YOUR SCROLLMATE SEES They see your daily minutes, your share of the pool and whether you're scrolling right now. They never see which apps you picked or anything you do inside them. You both see the same things about each other, so neither of you is in charge. DISCIPLINE MODE For the days you'd rather not have the option. With Discipline Mode on, an empty pool stays shut until your new day, and you can't end the day's contract early. If you're bonded, a pass you've earned together will get you back in. For real emergencies there's a 15-minute way in, and it still counts as a breach. QUESTS YOU PLAY AS A TEAM Shared Quests give the two of you one level and one streak. Keep the day under your ceiling and the late nights clear, and you level up together. Passes you earn along the way help on the days that don't go to plan. If the day breaks, the streak resets for both of you. YOUR WEEK IN THE JOURNAL See how the week went for both of you: how much each of you used, how the pool was split, how each day ended and whether you beat last week. SCHEDULES THAT RUN THEMSELVES Set Focus Schedules for the hours you want to keep clear, like your first hour awake, a work block or winding down before bed. They switch on and off by themselves. START SOLO IF YOU LIKE No scrollmate yet? Solo mode is free and doesn't need an account. You get your own daily pool and the same shields, and you can invite someone whenever you're ready. ONE SUBSCRIPTION FOR TWO When you pair up, one subscription covers both of you, and either of you can hold it. GOOD TO KNOW Scrollmates is for iPhone with iOS 18 or later, and both people in a bond need an iPhone. It uses Apple's Screen Time to shield the apps you choose, and Apple never shares their names with us.
