Budget your way. Track your worth. Keep your privacy. Free with optional sync. Most budgeting apps force one approach, and harvest your data while they're at it. Basis Budget gives you two complete budgeting modes in one app, and your financial data is encrypted on your device before it ever touches our servers. We don't run ads or sell your data, and there's no analytics tracking what you do in the app. Switch between budgeting modes anytime without losing a single transaction. TWO WAYS TO BUDGET [+] ZERO-BASED BUDGETING Every dollar of income gets assigned to a category until nothing is left to budget. Carry unused funds forward with rollover or start fresh each month. Set savings goals and sinking funds to plan ahead. Familiar territory if you've budgeted with envelopes before. [+] SPENDING LIMITS Set monthly caps per category and track your spending against them. No envelopes, no assigning. Just set your limits and go. Perfect if you want guardrails without the overhead. FREE TO START Manual budgeting is free. Track your accounts and transactions yourself, use both budgeting modes, see your net worth, split transactions, run reports, and keep every privacy protection, with no subscription. Want it automated? Connect your banks for automatic import via Plaid, plus Apple Wallet integration for Apple Card and Apple Savings, for $4.99/month. Your first month is free, and you can cancel anytime with your data staying accessible. Bank sync via Plaid is currently available in the United States. Manual entry and every other core feature work in every supported country. NET WORTH TRACKING See your full financial picture in one place. Track checking, savings, credit cards, investments, loans, and manually tracked assets like your home or car. Watch your net worth change over time with built-in charts and reports. PRIVACY BY DESIGN Before your financial data ever touches our servers, it's encrypted on your device with a key that's unique to you. Lock the app with Face ID and hide balances with number masking. We don't run ads, sell your data, or track in-app behavior. ALSO INCLUDES Transaction splits across multiple categories 16 default categories with full customization Category groups for Bills, Needs, Wants, and Savings Savings goals and sinking funds Credit card payment tracking Spending reports and category breakdowns Dark mode Made for people who want their budgeting app to stay out of their way. Your money, finally clear. SpendView connects to your bank and turns your spending into something you can actually see without receipts, spreadsheets, or typing in every purchase. CONNECT YOUR BANK Link an account from thousands of US banks and credit unions. From that moment on, every new purchase is imported for you, with the merchant name cleaned up and a category already suggested. You stay in control. Imported transactions land in a review inbox and are never silently added to your budget. Swipe away what isn't worth tracking, tap a chip to change a category, or hit Confirm All and be done in seconds. Connect up to 10 accounts, so checking, savings, and credit cards all flow into one picture. BUILT TO SHOW ONLY WHAT MATTERS SpendView doesn't dump years of history on you. It starts from the day you connect and moves forward, so your first week is your actual spending, not a wall of old statements you'll never review. Transfers between your own accounts and credit card payments are filtered out automatically, so moving money doesn't get counted as spending. Transactions appear once they've posted at your bank, which means the amount you approve is the final one. No pending charges that change later. OR JUST SAY IT Not everything comes from a linked account. Like cash purchases for example. Say "coffee at Starbucks, five dollars" and SpendView works out the amount, the merchant, and the category. Cash, splitting with a friend, the farmers market, logged in the time it takes to say it. SEE WHERE IT ACTUALLY GOES • Categories that match how you really spend • Monthly budgets with progress at a glance • Charts that make the pattern obvious • Everything in one place, always current PRIVACY AND SECURITY Bank connections are handled by Plaid, the service trusted by thousands of financial apps. SpendView never sees or stores your bank login, account numbers or routing numbers. You can disconnect any account at any time, and doing so removes SpendView’s connection to it completely. SpendView requires a subscription. Bank connection and auto-import are included. Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Basis Budget at free with in-app purchases against SpendView's subscription. Basis Budget also leads on ratings volume (6 vs 1). SpendView's advantage is iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Basis Budget sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month and SpendView sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Basis Budget against 5.0 for SpendView. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Basis Budget has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
