Copying a textbook into a notebook eats the time you meant to spend memorizing it. And the words you did get down start to blur a few days later. Memento takes the copying off your hands and brings each card back just before you would forget it. β Snap a page, get the cards Photograph a textbook page and the words and sentences on it are sorted into a set of cards in one pass. Photos from your library, text you've copied, and PDFs work the same way, including long PDFs of 10+ pages. In a vocabulary folder each card gets a word, a meaning and an example sentence; in a knowledge folder, a concept and an explanation. β Ask when you get stuck Stuck on something while you study? Ask right there. Try "How do I say 'rain on someone's parade' in Spanish?" and you get the meaning with an example, plus a draft card under the answer. Only the cards you tap Save on go into a folder. β Type the word, AI fills in the rest When you make a card yourself, type just the word and tap AI fill. The meaning and an example sentence are filled in for you. You can add a photo to either side of a card, too. β Back right before you forget Every card gets its own next review date. Cards you know well come back less often and shaky ones more often, so the same study time goes to your weak spots. To review, tap to reveal the meaning, then tap Again, Hard, Good or Easy. Turn on reminders and you'll get one at the time you choose, only on days with cards due, telling you how many are waiting. β On your Lock Screen Pin up to four must-know cards to the Lock Screen. Each shows the word and its meaning without opening the app, and a tap takes you straight into practice. You can also let the cards you miss most fill those spots automatically. β Paced to your exam date Set a target date on a folder and the number of new cards per day adjusts so you get through the whole folder by then. Days left and exam readiness show right on the folder. β Other ways through the same cards Type answer has you write the answer before you see the back. Autoplay moves through the cards on its own, and Match turns a folder into a matching game that tracks your time and best record and lets you replay the cards you missed. Cards can be read aloud, too. β See where you stand Statistics show your current level, your recent trend and how well you know each folder. You can also review only the cards you keep missing. β Import and sync Anki decks (.apkg) import as well (text only; images and audio are left out). Folders, cards and review history stay in sync across iPhone and iPad signed in to the same iCloud account, with no separate app sign-in. β Memento Pro The free plan already lets you ask AI questions and make cards from your material. Pro raises your AI limits and removes ads. Reviews, target dates and statistics are the same on free and Pro. Choose a monthly subscription with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Pro Monthly is an auto-renewable subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends if one applies. It renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings. Lifetime is a single payment and does not renew. Text, photos and PDFs you give the AI features are sent to an external AI service to generate answers and cards. Details are in the Privacy Policy. Flashcards that stick. Modern spaced repetition, seven curated language courses β nearly 20,000 cards β or bring your own decks via CSV / TSV / .apkg. No account, no tracking. iCloud sync. CURATED LANGUAGE COURSES Each course is structured around real proficiency frameworks. Cards include audio, example sentences, and grammatical gender / tone where relevant. β’ French (CEFR) β A1 to C2, 3,899 cards β’ Spanish (CEFR) β A1 to C2, 3,958 cards β’ Italian (CEFR) β A1 to C2, 4,237 cards β’ German (CEFR) β A1 to C2, 4,133 cards β’ Japanese (JLPT) β N5 to N1, 2,338 cards β’ Korean (TOPIK) β A1 to B1, 1,165 cards β’ French Street Speak β 274 cards of colloquial vocabulary native speakers actually use The French course also includes a listening-comprehension beta: audio-first cards born from the words you already know, so your ears catch up with your eyes. BRING YOUR OWN Already have a flashcard library? Import from: β’ CSV / TSV files β including tab-separated files like those exported from popular study tools, or anything you can paste from a spreadsheet. Map columns to Front, Back, Tags. Map a header row if you have one. β’ .apkg files β with media, sub-decks, and review history preserved. Drop the file from Files, iCloud Drive, or any document provider. Imports run on a background thread so a 5,000-card deck doesn't lock the app. Failed rows (malformed quoting, missing fields) are reported with a downloadable CSV you can fix and re-import. HOW STUDYING WORKS FSRS-5 is a modern spaced-repetition algorithm that schedules each card based on your actual recall, not arbitrary intervals. Forgetting curves shorten over time. The algorithm has 19 parameters that adapt to your specific learning history, and you can re-optimise them from your own reviews after a few weeks of use. Each language course pairs recognition (see the word, recall the meaning) with production (read the example sentence, produce the target word with full grammatical context). Production cards unlock once a word has been seen a few times β so you're not blindly guessing on day one. Native-quality TTS reads cards in the target language using your installed iOS voices. Settings includes a voice setup helper that links straight into the iOS pronunciation download for each language. OCR and voice dictation are built in for card authoring β point the camera at a textbook page or speak the word, and the recognised text drops into the field. SYNCS ACROSS YOUR DEVICES Decks, cards, review history, streak, achievements β everything syncs through your private iCloud account. Same Apple ID, same state on iPhone and iPad. No third-party servers see your study data. A pull-to-refresh on the home screen forces a sync if you ever need it. PRIVACY No account. No sign-up. No third-party login. No tracking pixels. No selling data. We never could even if we wanted to β there's nothing to sell. The aggregate product-health signals we do collect (app launch, import succeeded, review submitted) are bucketed, anonymous, and never include card content, deck names, or review ratings. You can turn them off entirely from Settings. Your decks, your reviews, your progress β they live on your device and in your private iCloud database. That's it. --- Open the App Store, install, study. Built by one person who wanted spaced repetition to feel less like a chore and more like a tool.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: RecallKit at none against Memento's 3. RecallKit also leads on ads (none vs shown). Memento's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
