AnalogTV recreates the complete analogue television chain - broadcast camera tube, composite signal encoding, RF transmission, and CRT phosphor display - simulated from physical first principles. Not a vintage filter. Not a post-process effect. A working simulation of every stage of broadcast television, from the camera neck to the phosphor screen. THE COMPLETE BROADCAST CHAIN. Not AI, Not a Filter, the Real Thing. Every frame passes through the same stages as a real television signal. A camera tube mode: Image Orthicon, Plumbicon, Vidicon, or CCD, captures the scene with its characteristic lag, halation, and MTF response. The signal is composite-encoded to NTSC, PAL, or SECAM standards, then decoded through the same mathematics a real television receiver performs. A Metal GPU fragment shader renders each frame onto a simulated CRT phosphor display at 60 fps. ANALOG CAM AnalogCam is a second way to use the app: a point and shoot camera with the console hidden and nine stompbox effect pedals along the bottom. Tap a pedal to latch it, hold it for a momentary hit. They are live while you record, so what you play is what is captured. EIGHT PHOSPHOR TYPES P22 colour television. P31 oscilloscope green. P45 white sub-millisecond. P4 B&W television. P3 amber radar. P7 dual-persistence radar — white flash fading to yellow-green afterglow. P11 deep blue photographic. P24 cyan-green flying-spot. Each calibrated from manufacturer datasheets and IEEE literature. Each shifts the IIR decay constants, rendered colour, and shutdown spot tint independently. SERVICE MENU Access the hidden service menu to make adjustments a television engineer would use: RGB drive and cutoff, convergence, focus voltage, G2 screen voltage, purity, HV regulation, and degauss. Every control operates at the physics level, changing focus changes the modelled electron beam diameter, not a software blur. TUBE AGEING AND SHUTDOWN Cathode emission falls with use. The screen accumulates burn-in at sustained high-brightness areas. Shut the set down and watch the EHT bleed, beam defocus, and phosphor decay to darkness with optional HV arc sounds. 14 TEST PATTERNS SMPTE and EIA colour bars, pluge, crosshatch, multiburst, zone plate, flat fields, and more. Every pattern is generated mathematically in real time. TECHNICAL SUMMARY - Metal GPU rendering at 60 fps - NTSC, PAL, and SECAM composite encoding and decoding - Eight phosphor types from primary source measurements - Four camera tube models with authentic lag and MTF physics - 14 test patterns generated in real time - Shadow mask magnetisation with 128×128 persistence texture - IIR phosphor decay with per-channel time constants - Aperture grille, shadow mask, and slot mask geometries Also on Apple TV as AnalogTV for TV, a separate app with a Teletext interface built for the Siri Remote.
Earwig Marker

Catch the best moments while you shoot. Find them again the second you start editing. Earwig Marker is for filmmakers who shoot a lot and cut later. Tap, or just say the word, to catch a strong moment as it happens. Earwig transcribes what was said and drops a timecode-accurate marker. Back at your desk, those markers build themselves into an edit-ready timeline in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro. THE PROBLEM You shoot for hours. The best line, the take you'll use, the shot you'll need later. Then it all disappears onto a card, and finding it again eats the first day of every edit. HOW IT WORKS 1. Set up your buttons. One tap for a highlight, a good take, a cutaway, or build your own. 2. Shoot your day. Tap when something good happens, or set a keyword and say it out loud to mark hands-free. Hold In and Out to capture a whole clip, and Earwig sums up what was said in it. 3. Open Earwig Sync on your Mac. Your markers build into a timeline in Resolve or Premiere, lined up with your footage, ready to cut. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT Earwig transcribes while you shoot, so every marker carries the words actually spoken, not just a timecode. Name a speaker once and the name stays across the whole transcript. And Earwig Sync, the free Mac app, lines your markers up to your camera's audio, so each one lands on the exact frame. You open your edit and the good bits are already found and laid down. That's hours of logging and searching gone. You start where you used to finish. WHO IT'S FOR Documentary makers, interviewers, podcasters, multicam and solo shooters. Anyone who shoots more than they can remember and cuts in Resolve or Premiere. WHAT YOU GET - A tap, or your own voice, to catch a moment while you shoot - Custom buttons and colours for takes, cutaways, strong moments and more - In and Out to mark a clip, with a summary of what was said - Live transcription, so every marker carries the actual quote - Speaker names kept across the whole transcript - Timecode-accurate markers, lined up with your footage - A free Mac app that builds your markers into a Resolve or Premiere timeline - No timecode box, no extra hardware - Works with the camera and edit software you already use Built by a filmmaker who was tired of losing the best moment in the edit. Start with a free month. Mark your next shoot and watch the edit take shape before you've touched a clip. Earwig Sync is a free companion app for Mac. DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro belong to their respective owners and are not affiliated with Earwig. Note: the app's interface and transcription currently work in English. Pricing: Earwig is a subscription. Friends of Earwig is GBP 9.99 a month with the first month free, for as long as you stay subscribed. Studio is GBP 14.99 a month or GBP 119 a year and includes 10 hours of cloud transcription a month, with top-ups available. Pro, for markers and sync without transcription or AI, is GBP 3.99 a month or GBP 34.99 a year. Your Apple Account is charged when the free month ends, and subscriptions renew each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: AnalogTV at 100% against Earwig Marker's 50%. AnalogTV also leads on rating (5.0 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (16 vs 2). Earwig Marker's advantage is price (Free vs $4.99) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 9 days). On ads, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Earwig Marker is free to download; AnalogTV costs $4.99 up front. AnalogTV sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Earwig Marker sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
AnalogTV holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AnalogTV has 16 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of AnalogTV's written reviews are positive against 50% of Earwig Marker's.
AnalogTV ships an update every 9 days, Earwig Marker every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
