Train the cognitive skills you'd rather not lose to AI dependency. MindForge is a brain training app built around four games. Each one is modeled on cognitive science research with a real evidence base for the skill it targets. WORKING MEMORY — Dual N-Back, the task from Jaeggi et al. 2008. SEQUENTIAL MEMORY — Pattern Memory, modeled on the Corsi block-tapping task. ASSOCIATIVE MEMORY — Memory Palace, a CANTAB Paired Associate Learning protocol. LONG-TERM RETENTION — Active Recall, the testing effect from Roediger and Karpicke 2006. Includes a 24-hour retention retest because the testing effect lives in the delay. A few minutes a day. Adaptive difficulty so the games get harder as you improve. Daily challenges keep you on a streak. 30+ achievements and hero metrics for each game. PRIVACY Anonymous product events only (named events like "session completed"). No personal identifiers, no autocapture, no session recording, no IP-linked profiles. Your game scores, streaks, and progress live only on your device. Free, no accounts required, no ads, no in-app purchases. Built by two friends who noticed their own working memory getting worse the more they used AI tools. The research backed up the feeling, so we built the app we wanted to use.

About

Pensum

Features

Pensum is a training game for adults. Five tasks a day, about ten minutes, mixed from six disciplines: math, logic, memory, patterns, language and speed. The tasks get harder as you do — each game on its own, across ten levels. THE GAMES Math Mental arithmetic — four operations, two to three digits Quick maths — is the sum right? One after another, against the clock Target number — combine tiles to hit a target Logic Number series — spot and continue sequences Matrix build — assemble the missing cell of a 3×3 pattern yourself Hatch picture — a mini nonogram that resolves into an image Memory Remember numbers — sequences of four to twelve digits, later also backwards Remember cells — tap back a sequence of lit cells Picture pairs — memory with sixteen pictures of its own Patterns Patterns & shapes — the figure that breaks the set Rotate — only rotated, or mirrored? Quick count — how many dots, at a glance Language Word flash — do the two words belong together? Word jumble — the word behind the scrambled letters Remember words — a list, then pick out the right ones Speed Reaction — tap only when the field is filled Colour & Word — what colour is the word, not what it says Number hunt — tap the numbers in order, against the clock HOW IT WORKS A short placement test to begin, then one round a day, with a weekly theme. Want more? Sprint (five fast games, about three minutes), Puzzling (four long puzzles with no clock in sight) or the Check (one minute — how are you doing today?). Practice lists every game on its own. The index shows where you stand. It starts at 100 and shows how hard the tasks are that you solve reliably — and which discipline is pulling you up right now. Wrong answers are explained, with the method rather than a consolation prize. One reminder a day, at the time you set. A missed day does not break the streak — two do. No leaderboards, no confetti: ranks from Bronze to Master compare you only with yourself. YOUR DATA Pensum has no server, no account and no analytics. Results, levels and settings stay on the device. There are no ads, no trackers and no crash reporting. The app is entirely free. No feature sits behind a wall. If you like it you can leave a coffee tip — it unlocks nothing. NOTE Pensum is a training game, not a medical device. It makes no diagnosis and does not replace medical assessment. The index is a game value, not a finding.
