More than 1,000 stops on Route 66, the historic alignments drawn on the map, and a logbook that records your own trip as you drive it. - 1,000+ stops across all eight Route 66 states, Chicago to Santa Monica - The historic alignments drawn on the map, not just one modern line - Log the stops you reach and keep diary notes as you go - Track your miles, your days on the road and the states you cross - Earn badges and climb tiers as your trip builds - Ranked by travelers, not advertisers - Free to browse, with a one-time unlock for the Logbook and Gems Driving Route 66 is a journey of small moments. A neon sign. A faded motel. A diner that's been there since 1947. Route 66 Logbook helps you find those moments, log them as you go, and keep a record of your trip that will mean something years later. I'm Carole. I drove Illinois in 2017 and the full route in 2026 for the centennial. Printed guides and other apps kept sending me to places that had closed, changed hands or vanished. So I built the Route 66 guide I wanted: one the road keeps up to date itself. ROUTE 66 MAP AND TRIP PLANNER More than 1,000 stops across all eight Route 66 states. Diners, motels, neon signs, ruins, monuments and roadside oddities. Filter by category, by condition, or by what's near you right now. Favorite the Route 66 attractions you want to see and build an itinerary that's actually yours. ALL EIGHT ROUTE 66 STATES Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. Each state has its own stretch of the map, its own landmarks and its own badge to earn. Kansas has the shortest run of the eight. Take it slowly anyway. THE HISTORIC ALIGNMENTS, DRAWN ON THE MAP Route 66 was never one road. It moved, it was straightened, it was bypassed, and long stretches of the older road are still out there to drive. The alignments are drawn on the map, so you can see where the road went before and choose which version of it you want under your wheels. ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF THE MOTHER ROAD Route 66 was commissioned in 1926, which makes 2026 its centennial year. A hundred years of diners, motor courts, roadside sculpture, ghost towns and neon, much of it still standing. Worth keeping a proper record of, if you are driving it now. YOUR ROUTE 66 LOGBOOK AND TRAVEL JOURNAL Log stops as you drive, or let background tracking record them for you, even when the app is closed. Write diary notes on the places that meant something. It is the printed Route 66 passport rebuilt for your phone, and it is still yours long after you have driven home. TRACK YOUR TRIP AS IT HAPPENS Miles driven, stops logged, days on the road, states crossed. Your odometer ticks up and your map fills in as you go. No two Route 66 trips are the same length, because it depends which alignments you take, so your logbook keeps a running total of your own drive rather than somebody else's. Earn badges and climb tiers as your trip builds. HIDDEN GEMS, RANKED BY TRAVELERS Stops are ordered by what real road-trippers liked, not by who paid for the placement. Find the places that do not make the big guidebooks but should. A ROUTE 66 GUIDE THE ROAD KEEPS UPDATED Route 66 changes faster than any book can print. Suggest a stop we have missed. Confirm what you have seen. Flag a motel that has closed, a diner that has reopened, a sign that has gone. Every traveler adds to the catalog, so the map you drive with is the one other travelers just fixed. PLANNING A ROUTE 66 ROAD TRIP Some people drive the whole thing in a couple of weeks. Others take a single state over a long weekend, or drive it in pieces across several years. How long it takes is really a question of how much of the old road you want to find. FREE MAP, ONE-TIME UNLOCK Browse the whole Route 66 map for free. Unlock the Logbook, your diary, mile tracking, badges and the Gems list with a single purchase. No subscription. Built by one traveler, kept accurate by all of them. Get your kicks.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: CineTrotter at none against Route 66 Logbook's 1. CineTrotter also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). Route 66 Logbook's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and device support (3 vs 1). On price there is nothing between them.
