Tale Virtues is an app that helps parents introduce children to virtues through fairy tales. Seven decks, one for each way of being good: Courage, Kindness, Honesty, Loyalty, Humility, Patience, and Wisdom. Made for the quiet hour, when a parent and a child sit together, look at one card, and talk. There is no quiz, no streak to defend, no notification asking for more attention than the moment deserves. WHAT'S INSIDE Each card pairs a virtue with a classic fairy tale, drawn from the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, Aesop, George MacDonald, and other beloved storytellers. The front shows an original illustration and a single thought about the virtue. The back reveals the tale and the meaning it gently carries. A simple bottom sheet opens into a gentle retelling, three discussion prompts, and one fun fact. The retellings are written in language a four-year-old can follow and a nine-year-old will not feel patronized by. Grown-ups can read, explain, skip, linger, or let the conversation go wherever it wants to go. HOW IT WORKS Tap a card to flip it. Swipe to the next one. Heart what you love to keep it close. That's the whole interaction. No accounts, no logins, no typing, no clutter. WHAT'S FREE, WHAT'S NOT Two decks are free forever: Courage and Kindness, with 100+ cards between them. The other five decks can be unlocked with a single optional in-app purchase. No subscriptions, no upsells inside the cards. A QUIET PROMISE Tale Virtues collects no data. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no trackers. The app works without an internet connection once it's installed. We made this choice because it felt right for an app you'll use with your child. A FEW WAYS TO USE IT There's no one way to use Tale Virtues. Here are a few that have worked for us. The deck at a glance. Open a deck and you'll see all the cards listed. You can scan the titles for what fits the moment: the question they ask out of nowhere, the curious quietness on the ride home from school, the precious five minutes before dinner. The virtue, and the tale behind it. Choose a card, and tap to go deeper into the virtue. The retelling is there if you'd like it. A deeper conversation, if you want one. Each card opens into three short questions, meant to start a conversation rather than test what was understood. Some nights one question is enough. Some nights one question is one too many. Whichever fits the moment. A daily moment, if you'd like one. If you'd like a daily ritual with your child, the app can offer one virtue a day at a time of your choosing. Used a little, Tale Virtues can become a small ritual. Used now and then, it's a quiet companion for moments that would otherwise pass by.

Who lived at the same time as Mozart, Van Gogh, or Napoleon? Parallel lays out several timelines at once, and the connections that usually stay hidden appear at a glance. It's your tool for assembling history around what interests you. Ten curated collections come built in, from earth history and the arts to sciences, rulers, empires, buildings, and the events that shaped history. They make it easy to start and give you a taste of what Parallel can do. The rest is yours to shape. For the curious, for the classroom, for everyone who loves history. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Swipe and zoom through the millennia, from antiquity to today. • Line up exactly the collections that fascinate you. • Highlight a person and see their contemporaries at a glance, while everything else fades into the background. • Open any entry for a clear, concise biography or summary, with a link to Wikipedia. • Bring dates and the Wikipedia link straight from Wikidata into your own entry. • Follow a single thread through time, filtered by topic, place, era, and more. • Create your own collections and fill them with what matters to you. • Zoom out from a single year all the way to 13.8 billion years. Every built-in entry is carefully researched, historically grounded, and fact-checked. Try it for free Ancient Rome is included as a ready-made sample collection, no Pro needed. In a few seconds you see how a collection comes together, and it stays with you afterwards. Buy once, no subscription. You buy Parallel just once. The Pro upgrade lifts every limit: unlimited collections and entries, creating and filling your own collections from a spreadsheet or from copied text, your own copies of the built-in collections, and exporting the whole timeline as a PDF. No hidden costs. If you want to go deeper into specific topics, optional premium collections are available. Private and offline Your entries stay on your iPhone. No account, no sign-up, no tracking. The app works offline. Only the Wikidata look-up needs an internet connection. History belongs to everyone, but your data belongs to you.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Tale Virtues at 5.0 against Parallel's 4.0. Tale Virtues also leads on ratings volume (7 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). Parallel's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
