Marked is a Markdown reader and editor designed first as a reading app β€” think Apple Books for your .md files. Open any Markdown document from Files or iCloud Drive and read it with the calm of a book: classic typography, generous margins, justified text with automatic hyphenation, and Light, Sepia and Dark themes. A READING-FIRST EXPERIENCE β€’ Three reading themes: Light, Sepia and Dark. β€’ Nine curated typefaces: system serif, New York, Georgia, Palatino, Times New Roman, Helvetica Neue, Avenir Next, Iowan Old Style and Charter. β€’ Adjustable font size, line spacing and horizontal margins. β€’ Justified text with automatic hyphenation for a book-like rhythm. β€’ Native rendering of headings, lists, quotes, code blocks, links and tables. β€’ Styled blockquotes with accent bar, soft background tint and a decorative quote glyph. β€’ Wrap-first tables that fit cell text to the screen and only scroll horizontally when wrapping is not enough. SYNTAX HIGHLIGHTING β€’ Fenced code blocks are highlighted with automatic language detection (highlight.js via HighlighterSwift). β€’ The editor colours Markdown markup live β€” headings, emphasis, code spans, links and lists β€” without getting in the way of plain-text editing. QUICK EDITING β€’ Built-in plain-text editor with in-place save to the original file. β€’ New documents open straight into the editor. β€’ Jump to any line directly from the table of contents or search results. β€’ Debounced highlighting keeps large files responsive while typing. NAVIGATION β€’ Auto-generated table of contents from the document's headings. β€’ In-document search: per section in reader mode and per line in editor mode. β€’ Recent files list with per-document reading position and progress, Apple Notes–style file count under the title. FAST AND SMOOTH β€’ Documents open asynchronously so the UI never blocks on large files. β€’ Theme and font changes reuse the parsed document and existing section views instead of rebuilding from scratch. β€’ Smart subview reuse keeps scrolling fluid in long documents. WORKS WITH YOUR FILES β€’ Opens .md, .markdown, .mdown and .mkd files from Files, iCloud Drive and "Open with…". β€’ Create new Markdown documents from inside the app. β€’ Security-scoped bookmarks remember where each file lives, so recents keep working after relaunch. PRIVACY BY DESIGN β€’ Everything runs on your device. Marked has no servers. β€’ No accounts, no telemetry, no advertising, no tracking. β€’ Your files stay exactly where you keep them β€” the app only opens them. Ideal for reading notes, technical documentation, project READMEs, long-form articles or books written in Markdown β€” and for making quick edits without leaving the reading flow.

About

Filepad Markdown

Features

Filepad opens the Markdown you already have β€” in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or on this iPhone β€” and leaves it exactly where it is. Nothing is copied into the app. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. FINDS WHAT IS QUIETLY WRONG HTML tells you when you break it. Markdown does not β€” it just renders differently, and you never notice. Filepad reads your document the way the renderer does and points at the lines that will not come out the way you meant: a heading with no space after the #, a table row with the wrong number of cells, an unclosed link, a footnote with no definition. One tap fixes what can be fixed by adding text. Nothing is ever deleted to "fix" something. READS PROPERLY Headings, tables, task lists, quotes, code blocks, footnotes, front matter, and [[wiki links]] between documents in the same folder. Jump by heading with the outline, or with the four navigation buttons that sit under your thumb. FINDS THINGS Search inside a document with every hit highlighted, or search a whole folder and see which files hold what you are looking for. Sort by name or by when you last changed something. EDITS AND SAVES CAREFULLY Edit the source with a toolbar for the marks you forget, and a line that tells you what the cursor is sitting on. Saving is atomic, and the previous version is kept beside the file so an edit can be undone. If the file changed outside the app while you were editing, Filepad does not overwrite it β€” it saves your version alongside and asks you. ALSO OPENS PDF, HTML AND TEXT PDFs and web documents are view-only. HTML is drawn with network access blocked at two independent layers, and when a document tries to reach the internet for an image or a script, Filepad says so on screen instead of quietly fetching it. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No account. No sync service of ours. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The app makes no network requests at all. Your folders, your files, your device. Free, and staying free.
